It could be a Cyst, but its hard to tell from the pictures.

i hope not.

theres not much you can do if it is a cyst other than not overfeed and hope for a healing next molt.

Or fungal? Ive seen that in fungal infections while searching mold on this board. But youd have to look for yourself to see if it matches yours. I recently posted pics of this i need to find it.

as for a cyst? I need to look at more photos on the board. Usualy them seem to have a “bigger” impact physicaly. But hey, i dont know that much on tarantula veterolgy.

aging?

P cambridgei is Awesome Spider.
This bites.
Maybe some clearer pics could help to determine what's going on.

Neither can be treated. Either surgical removal or powerful fungicide hazardous to an animals health.

Hard to say - pics not in focus- if cyst- just wait and careful feeding.

It's abnormal but to my knowledge there's no scientific answer to any arachnid health ailment in the hobby.

Cyst? Fall injury? Scrape? Hard to really tell.

I would err on the side of caution and don't overfeeding until after the next molt.

Hope for the best.

If it were a cyst, I’d expect it to look swollen. That link was informative. Do you have a black light you can test it with to see if it fluoresces?

Don't take it the wrong way. I think it's Terrible what's going on with P. cambridgei.
Am not making light of this at all.
It's just an expession

I don’t know if you’d had a chance to check out that link about the fungal infections above, but it sounded a lot like what you have there with the white ring and hairlessness, and she did treat it. Not sure iI’d do that if all else looks fine, but there’s an option.

Ok, update:

The weird spot is spreading… now she has 2 spots and her butt/Spinnerets look almost a tad bit slimy.

Best pics I could get…

I’m totally unsure of what to do or expect…

Info/help? IMG_9420.png IMG_9421.png

The spreading, in such a short time, does remind me of fungal.

i know cycts on tarantulas can also look like this so its tricky.

my train of thought could be erronous because they are arachnids, but it reminds me of how animals and humans get ringworm. Its always a circle. And in nature, mushrooms show up in circles as well.

i am definitely not saying your tarantula has ringworm. But thats why im thinkings that. Unless its aging… its very tricky. You bring up the slimyness showing up. Thats definitely a symptom of some kind of infection.

i would write to an entomologist zoo, one that carries arachnids. Try anyways. Maybe they can provide more info. I would also write to Daves little beasties and Tom Moran. You won’t know unless you try.

id also contact a vet and see how much it costs to do a culture. One that specializes in exotics, like reptiles.

If i find more info, on my end, while researching, i will post here to keep thread fresh. I think this is relevant for all of us.

i would also check in on the feeders. And map out everything that came in contact with tarantula since this started. It can help establish a source. You might also feel like you get to do something about it. Because at this point not much to do and feeling helpless is aweful 😞

Try to get tarantula in tightest catch cup and look at it with highest magnification glass possible.

I’d also write to the person from this link. And check the photos.

i would also definitely write to this guy

That’s a lot but I’ll do my best! I’ve taken care of very sick Ts before @viper69 but I feel like it could be a danger to both of us and I don’t want to put her in any kind of jeopardy. And I’m not too sure about her attitude right now. I am thinking she could still get defensive and probably try to bite me - she is a P cam lol. But I will continue to monitor her situation- and keep you all updated! I hope maybe she might molt and be back to normal. Fingers crossed. Thx, guys!
