So… my AF p striata just died this morning… she had been in close proximity to the p cams’ for a long while…
We found her hanging by one leg stuck on her cork round. She doesn’t look damaged in any other way. I swear I’m about to lose it!

When it comes to contagiousness, only thing I can think is that I feed all my Ts with the same tongs…

I’m getting discouraged-in the last few months I’ve lost like 6 or 7 AFs!

HELP PLZ ANYONE!!!!!
I know this is probably an impossible ask but you may need to isolate them.

Communicable pathogens. For the average animal keeper, assume the worst. Everything is transmitted among all containments. Did you get tired of the smell of Vesphene?
Haven't set foot in a lab for 4 decades, that's a product / smell I haven't experienced in quite some time.

Its not too late to sterilize tools. Clean all water bowls. Everything you usualy touch with tools.

how was ambient humidity in your home recently?

get rid of everything from those enclosures.

boil thespunk out of those tongs.

start from scratch. Get rid of all feeders.

don’t think this will happen with your entire collection.

ive repeated this many times. Now that your tarantula is dead, bag it and get it analyzed. Please. Do this.

vets can use their tools to observe. Even if they dont deal with spiders. Youll get some answer. I truely believe it.

spend money on that. It could save your collection.

if i was in your city i wouls be doing calls with you even if i dont know you because this is something that can happen to all of us.

there has to be some arachnid biologists on this board wanting to study this.

get in touch with scientist who found jeff daniels nematode. Write to “everyone”.

i am, truely sorry for you going through this and i really wish i could help. I just dont know how.

Ok… well, it’s finally happened. We found our AF p irminia deceased in her enclosure, which was also touching the P cams before I moved them off the shelf with the other Ts in my collection.

My husband is starting to doubt if he wants to stay in the hobby since we’re suffering all these blows lately. We’re down to 30 or under by this point I believe…it’s devastating.

I have looked up the ages of the Ts we have lost and if it was a huge coincidence; they all fall within the range of “middle aged to elderly” in terms of their species.

But I don’t know what to do now… I disinfected the shelf the p cams were on (since everyone that was previously there is now dead). This is a real bummer…

Still, I do have Ts to take care of, so I can’t just totally give up.

Any other ideas or responses welcome - no matter how out there or coincidental it may be…

OK, so a semi-positive update. I separated the 2P cams from everyone else and yes, the other two that were next to them died, if you’re not familiar with what I’m talking about, it’s a little higher up in the comments, but my. AF C schioedtei (spelling?) Seems to be thriving and she was the last one that was on the same shelf as all the others that have died. Also, the sore on one of their abdomen seems to be receiving a little bit, but it’s hard to get a great look at it again due to the massive Webbings they’ve created. This makes me very happy because I don’t have the money to pay for an exotic pet doctor. I will be returning to this thread to update little bit later. Thank you all for your kind words and helpful information.
