Hi fellow birders, I've been a birder for over 30 years, since I was small. Always loved them. It's my favourite time of year at the moment when everything is singing and preparing to breed. There's nothing better than a full on dawn chorus 🙂

the migration is started here, but May is my favorite month of all. Thats when the migration is at its peak, and the most birds are around, where they won’t stay to nest.

so better my chances to observe birds i would have to travel hours to see.

i look forward to this seasons birding.

i got mealworms for the insectivores that i will put out on plateau style feeder im
building.

Migration is amazing, I saw my first swallows of the year today, so wonderful to think that they have travelled from Africa to the UK, amazing 🙂

in 2021, we had the visit of a Stellar’s sea eagle, Haliaeetus pelagicus. People traveled from the states to come see it. This eagle traveled very far to be here.

it is amazing how winds, combined with the birds aptitudes, brings them from far away lands.

both adults were on the nest when i arrived. It was healing and reassuring to see this nest is going to be a yearly occurence. I like going to that specific forest because its a bird refuge, and no one goes there in masses.

so far, people have been respectful of it.

Saw this new bird today. Rose breasted grosbeak. Bold fella. I was so happy to see him that I watched the birds all day, and fed them twice. Didn't have my fruits and nuts blend, but plenty of sunflower seeds. He stayed all day.

I saw my cardinal pair ( my grandparents), 3 of my doves. My finch pair and all their friends. 2 Bluejays, the speckled birds, and the blue head blackbirds. Robins too.

I had never seen a grosbeak. I watched it all day.

I heard about a yellow cardinal, I always think that today is going to be the day I see one.
