dang, I almost just stepped on it barefoot. So much for spending $650 this summer getting my house sealed. And you know if there is one baby, there has to be more...... :( what do I do with this guy.......OH, I'm so upset. I was just enjoying walking barefoot again thinking I was home free from scorps in the house.

I never walk barefoot.

And we don't even have bugs.

LOL! What instar, maybe 3i? I'm still learning the instar steps. You guys are too funny, I don't think one tiny little scorpion is worth the cost of priority mail let alone be strong enough to make the trip! I'm sure you could get better deals elsewhere on this site! Aztec, going barefoot is the best, especially on hot pavement in Phoenix in the summer. :) Orchid, I bought those sticky things once and they are strong! My cat stepped on the one behind the dryer and went beserk racing all over the house with that thing stuck to her foot. Scorpions 0, Cats 1.......

lol, sounds like something one of my cats would do, except they would probably try to eat it... and get it stuck to their head...

Let it go outside near something it can hide in, it will have as good a survival chance as any others. It is at least a hardened 2i which means it can survive on its own. It could have gotten into the house on his own, it's very hard to seal a spot small enough for him to get in, even with professional sealing it really doesn't take much for one of that size to squeeze in.

I would release it around the time of evening / night you usually hunt for them.

the trick to neutralizing the glue on those boards is to use oil. either vegetable or mineral oil seem to work well. wont help the scorpion much but its the easiest way to remove a paw or a childs hand for example.

Where do you live? I live in Arizona as well, but in the Florance/Queen Creek area, and their are no scorpions around here. I would love to find some of these.

I'm surprised you do not have scorpions in that area! I live in NW Phoenix.

I thought about that, but the house was sealed about 8 weeks ago, I wouldn't think the scorpion would be that old?

yea it definitely could be that old. have you checked the basement if there is one? that seems like it would be a definite hotspot if there are still any left in the house. any cool dark moist places where there are other little critters to feed on usually fit the bill. another trick i learned while in phoenix was to check the little manholes in yards that hide the water meter. they always seemed to have scorpions in them

LOL! I think after living in fear for a few years and getting stung a few times you might change your tune on that one! That was funny though...

Does anyone seriously want this little dude before I let him go? I was thinking of just sticking him in a little box in a padded envelope and sending him first class mail. I'll pay the postage, it can't be more than a dollar. You know, a little science project to see if he survives. :D I bet he does! Well, unless you think that is mean. I just went around the whole back and front yard (tiptoed around the whole inside of my house in fear, thank you very much Pandinus) and the greenbelt and did not find a thing...I'll let him go tomorrow night if noone wants him. (Hey, if he dies he would make a cute ring or bracelet in resin.)

No, no your missing the point, she WALK INTO HER KITCHEN and he was there, waiting for her, watching her every move!!! It's one thing to go out and find them, it's a different story to find them all comfy cozy in your home!!! That's where I found Curly, almost stepped on him. I thought he was a crumb and went to sweep him up, never saw a crumb with a tail like that!!!! His brother (whose in my freezer) I found on the wall upstairs, and the other large one, once more, in my kitchen. I'm finding a few a week on my wall.... Their really neat, and I enjoy the couple that I keep, but sucks to have them in your home.
