And now throat is extremely sore and it’s hard to swallow. I assume it’s the hairs, got some meds from a pharmacy but just concerned, it’s been almost 24 hours and it still hurts to talk. Anyone have any advice?

I'm assuming that the tarantula was cooked prior to being dipped in chocolate, in which case the hairs would have burned off. Even if they hadn't, being coated in chocolate would have mostly neutralized the effects of the urticating setae. Advice would be not to eat any more tarantulas and take a covid test - you're probably just sick.

it was fried, I don’t believe it removed all the hairs though as I could see them in my mouth. It feels like splinters all in my throat. After eating my mouth did go a bit numb as well

Might not have been cooked enough, or maybe it was a very hairy spider, either that or you are allergic to T's. Wouldn't recommend eating any more. See a doctor about your throat ASAP.

You're describing a possible allergic reaction. Nevermind the parasites that are going to feast (well, nibble) on your brain, you're going to want that addressed sooner than later. Are you allergic to bees or shellfish?

Reminded me of that old episode of the Simpsons where that little Ralf kid said that something "tastes like burning," LoL

No one asked how many tequila worms he ate first...

Well you'll find out for sure in the morning.

I'm still waiting to hear how it tastes. Chocolate covered chicken? Chocolate covered crab? Doesn't sound very good to me, especially if it has to be covered in chocolate, but there has to be some reason to eat it, besides starvation.

If you're curious enough to follow OP's decisions in life...

Personally I thought about it, but at that price I could buy a sling instead of eating one, so I didn't.

I'm sure I'd be just as pleased with an National Geographic.

My thoughts are what a doctor would say about having a itchy throat and I'm guessing an itchy butt the next morning after ingesting a tarantula.

I saw a documentary once a while back, people preparing tarantulas and they singed the hair off before cooking and eating, I wouldn't eat one unless I was sure it was prepared properly first.
Well, I don't think I would eat one anyway because I would feel kind of bad for the spider. But that's just me. Anything is food if you're hungry enough.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
