Evolution at work eating spiders is something you’d expect a raccoon to do …

Y'all gotta take it a step back.

If you eat shrimp, crayfish, lobster. It's same protein, the same family of animal.

People each much weirder things in my opinion than cooked insects.

Take blue cheese for example. Or Casu martzu.

Anyway, don't demean or derogate another's lifestyle or culture just because your sensibilities aren't open to it.

Don’t drink and try new foods … someone probably dared op to eat a tarantula !
I don't know his intent, but I wouldn't cast it off as instantly derogatory. My nephew is half Japanese, & there was some healthy ball-busting with the whole covid bat soup thing...most definitely not meant for people of less than intimate acquaintance, but nevertheless...

I can most CERTAINLY understand it being perceived as a slight following the "other mammalian species" post, but perhaps that's a problem in & if itself; there exists multiple species of the same genius of just about every other life form on earth, differentiated by more minute aspects of biological (& some cases behavioral) attributes than the myriad of both that set the human races apart. It's unfortunate in many ways that further classification of Homo is verboten, in my opinion, as at the very least it compels sentiments of superiority/inferiority across the spectrum that might not be present if we weren't all crammed into this "one race, human race" mantra. Perhaps native populations & their environments would be better protected by the global population as a whole in the name of preserving species diversity, instead of slow marching them all to oblivion via "assimilation."

Also, if that WAS meant as a poke, it seems a shame that such a mild rib is grounds for scorn. My VERY diverse group of friends growing up pulled WAAYYYYY worse on each other out of kinship. I don't think ANY of us envisioned such a pendulum swing in that regard.

I just find certain food items to be too disgusting 🤮 I’d never personally try and tarantulas/centipedes make that list along with lots of popular gross foods I surely will never eat like chicken feet. I’m not trying to offend people that eat such foods , but eating tarantulas/centipedes could lead to their extinction plus they are much more valuable $$ as pets. Why would you eat a spider for $5 when you can sell it for $100 these people are moronicle. Literally Burning 🔥 money..

A throat full of urt setae could send me to the er. :hurting:  the stuff is devastating. I’d never eat any of the popular land inverts.
Shrimp 🍤 is farthest I’ll go or crab legs.
