Local Aphonopelma hentzi male. Just had ultimate molt yesterday. The gold carapace is stunning.

Whoa, the carapace on that guy is amazing! I love hentzis. They are underrated in my opinion.

im guess mature male hentzi but besides that id take it off gravel
thats an old pic and its on gravel cause thats where i found it ... well nto in the tank but in a gravel pit.

the T died of old age a few years ago. he just slowed down and started droppign legs and them curled...

also the reason i put this up , it because someone i know said they found one that had a pinkish carapace that was not a mature male.

It's a mature male Aphonopelma...beyond that no one could tell you from a pic. Depeding where you're at in Texas, this is when the hentzi "complex" matures...

One of two Aphonopelma sp. I caught...

Caught these in AZ. I live in AZ. :) I also had a wandering male in my yard (not the same species)... should have taken a picture of him.

I never thought the day would come when I held her, because she's usually really nasty and aggressive. She also layed eggs about a month ago, but she ate them. Lately, she's been really calm and sluggish. Soo... I attempted to hold her, for the very first time. I was very nervous.
