I really don't know the difference in our highways, why they get so much more slippery than the other cities that get very cold.
the difference is the drainage gradient, your roads werent made with heavy rains in mind.
PS:sorry for showing out of nowhere, but i thought a random knowledge is good :3

Lol, it's ok. I've never had a problem driving in the rain, just when it's very icy. And it's actually never been this cold in Houston... We're reaching record-breaking cold lol ... Hurricane Harvey flooded our city because they released these big dams. It wasn't actually from the hurricane. Even though it was a monster hurricane. No highways can be built that could be driven through a level 5 hurricane. But I'm not a scientist, I just chill and endure our hurricanes when they come. Try to stay inside, then step out to see the damage. We actually throw hurricane parties sometimes and just drink hurricanes through the hurricane LOL

I know people have seen this but this was a monster! Then they released these dams that were built in 1939 which flooded the city. This was from my ig ... I don't have a problem with hurricanes, it's just these dam icy roads LOL No city is gonna be hit by this n not have water in the streets problems lol. My post earlier wasn't about flooding, it was about slippery highways from ICE.

The issue this week was that it rained first and then froze for 2 days, making the whole city a skating rink. On top of that a huge percentage of the highways here are built in the air so that mild flooding doesn’t shut the city down. 100 foot high overpasses freeze over pretty quickly when its 20 degrees out.

That being said, the panic was a bit ridiculous. This is what the bread aisle looked like yesterday when I went to the grocery store. Apparentl people like to binge on bread when its cold out. I want to know whats wrong with that one last loaf.

I don't believe there is a 24 hour notice for right of access of a Landlord statute in Texas. I believe right to access laws arises out of stare decisis (case law rulings) for the state. Consult your lease and see what you signed to. Specifically look for right of entry or right of access provisions. You may have agreed to let the landlord enter for spraying or for other maintenance issues without notice. Again, check your lease over. If their entry violates your lease, and you are are mad enough about it, call a lawyer to find out what your remedies are.
