I came home to a stupid little note on the counter saying they "treated unit for roaches, ants, spiders, silverfish, gnats" I'm so pissed. First off, how did they "treat it" and I've never had one pest in my house ever. My 3 tarantulas are in the living room. I wonder if they'll be ok??? You can clearly see their big aquariums I don't know why they would go ahead and "treat" the apartment, if they see there's three humongous tarantulas. My eyes are kind of burning but I dont see or smell anything...

If your eyes are burning, I would definitely evacuate the tarantulas if at all possible. Air it out and wipe everything down.

I would be really pissed if someone entered my apartment with no notice. Your landlord normally has to give some notice before entering the apartment (unless it's an emergency). Check your lease. (It probably says something like 24 hours' notice.)

I would talk with the landlord to see if you can opt out of having the apartment treated or at least get advance notice so you can remove your tarantulas while it's being treated.

Yea, I definitely thought that they would have to tell me they were coming in and "treating" for pests. How would they even "treat" for gnats? And I have a little fish, but my concern is my 3 Ts! I just don't smell anything at all. My apartment is spotless n has never had one "pest" wtf...Im pissed

It's like 20 degrees outside and I have nowhere to take my babies!

They should have given notice. Claim allergies and ask for an ozone to be done (remove Ts for this as well but it will remove any residual toxins). After ozone, open your windows - length of time you can leave your windows depends on your current weather. I believe you'd want to stay out of the ozoned area for at least a day or two after the process.

Try wiping enclosures with a vinegar and water solution with a 1:8 ratio--with a heavy after rinse of water so your Ts aren't stuck with the smell of vinegar for an extended period. Before wiping insides or bothering them too much, find out what chemical was used and method of delivery and where.

If they didn't provide notice, find other neighbors upset over the situation as you're surely not the only one with pets.

Some reptile shops may be willing to take your Ts for a few days so long as you provide a fee.

Ok, I'll definitely try that. They gave ZERO notice and it's like 20 degrees outside! I got home at like 9pm so it's too late to call. I'm so pissed!!! I just wish I at least knew how they "treated" it! Smh

I will definitely try that also. I'm in Houston, so like the whole city has been shut down because it's been so cold...and we're not used to that so there was ice on the highways and all of that so they shut down a lot of the stores. You wouldn't think they would come in just to spray for some bugs when all the highways are even shut down. Smh. I'm always home and they choose the one time I'm not home to do this s***

I wish my city shut down over ice. But then we'd only be in business for what, 4 mos of the year?

Ozone will be difficult so you will want to find other disgruntled tenants.

Call around and see what you can find. There likely is a shop that took in animals prior to the shutdown and they can't exactly abandon them.

Hold on...you said it was 20.....seriously, how weak are big bad Texans? That's not even that cold. Do you not have jackets and long sleeved shirts...heck in 20 you don't even need pants yet...lol. I am completely blown away that 20 degrees would be cause for city wide shut down...its completely unbelievable. Do Texans not realize that billions of humans live in weather that cold all the time and do just fine? Why can't Texans figure it out? I love the south, but when it comes to weather, y'all are a bunch of infants...not even kids...cause even kids here know how to dress for the cold.:astonished: Ok, I'm done having fun with the OP now....No offense, its just really funny. I've been waiting 2 weeks for it to warm up to 20, before that we had 3 weeks where it barely hit 5 for a high...people here don't even stay indoors when its that cold...probably because we have jackets and pants though.:astonished::astonished:

Anyway to the point...different states have differing laws regarding tenants and landlords....here in WI it is flat out not legal for them to enter your home without 24 hours notice unless its a critical emergency...but we also have some of the best laws in the country to protect renters. I would check with your city or state to find out what your laws are. Definitely use the "I'm allergic" line, if you tell them its for medical reasons they shouldn't have much choice but to comply with your request..

I hope your ts are ok and that you can clear this up and prevent it from happening again...stay warm.

Phoenix is worse when it comes to inclement weather. Everyone panics when it rains. Nothing is built to handle it, so everything floods. Car accidents quadruple because no one can see and all the cars are hydroplaning.

You think that's bad? I live in western Washington where it rains all the time. You'd think people here would know how to drive in the rain but do they? No. The more water there is on the road the faster they go and let's not even discuss snow and ice. I swear we have the worst drivers in the US.

Exactly...the city gets crazy ice all over everywhere. You can be going like 20 miles per hour and your car starts sliding everywhere. I really don't know the difference in our highways, why they get so much more slippery than the other cities that get very cold. But hey, I laugh about it as well, but it definitely is too cold for s Tarantulas sweetie, that was my point because that was what my post was about. I know our city is not prepared for that but we sure do endure insane hurricanes and flooding and everything else. I go outside n just do whatever during the eye of the hurricanes LOL you can check out my Instagram and see how we just take boats on the streets just to get here and there like it's nothing and go out tubing with trucks in the streets making it fun. @FeelCamile ... anyways that's not what my post was about, but I'm sure my tarantulas will be okay because they're acting fine, and the apartment manager just said they just barely spray corners in the kitchen.

This is one of the things that I swear, Jesus Christ, I would never understand and a something with 'written' 100% U.S on that, aka the frantically lechery rapture for spraying everything and everyone.

I probably would had beaten the hell out of @cold blood neighbour and his 'green yard', so thank God I don't live there uh.

I think the U.S should learn a couple of things from Italy... here aside public trees/park or whatever no one spray nothing, if happens is because there's the risk of a, don't know, plague-rats invasion like in 'Dishonored' game, which is something that doesn't happens, obviously.

Thank you so much. I called this morning and told the manager off but she was actually pretty nice and said they only spray the corners barely in the kitchen when they do spray anything. My babies will be ok, "Black rain" the pink toe..."Speedy" the Gooty, and "Bumble Bee" the Baboon.

Thank you for any intelligent, caring replies that I received for a concerned post for my Ts.

YES. THIS. YES.

Also- we shut down over snow too. BIG TIME. I couldn't believe it when I first moved here- there was a storm with some snow and ice and people just got out of their cars and left them! I grew up in a few places, but mainly Idaho and Minnesota (and Texas too, but let's not go there) so I was just shocked by that!
