3 H. villosella slings which were larger than you usually find on vendor lists. I don’t think I’ll ever do online buying ever again after experiencing my first expo today.

I also picked up some ivory millipedes and carnivorous plants.

Nice! One thing I love about going to expos is being able to see exactly what you're buying. Sounds like you had a blast and got some great deals.

For sure, it’s bi-monthly, which could pose a problem (as you probably know all too well). Going back in July for some P. auratus hopefully.

If everything goes smoothly (knock on wood) these lovlies will arrive in a few days:

0.1 Psalmopoeus victori sub-adult (SO FREAKING EXCITED!)
0.0.1 Psalmopoeus victori
0.0.6 Psalmopoeus ecclesiasticus (SO SO SOOO FREAKING EXCITED!!)
0.0.1 Davus pentaloris
0.0.1 Idiothele mira (please be a male this time)
0.0.1 Neoholothele incei 'Gold'
0.0.1 Ybyrapora diversipes

My favourite genus is Psalmopoeus and I've had the worst luck ever with all my P. victori slings turning out male, so I finally gave in and got a female when I saw the vendor had some as well as the P. ecclesiasticus slings I was actually looking for. Can you tell I'm thrilled lol.

Just a little LOL. It's always such a great feeling when you finally track down the exact specimen you've been looking for. Do you have a name picked out for her yet? I love to name all of my critters but I know that some people don't. I hope your new arachnid buddies arrive safely.

I might've blown my summer budget in five seconds but it was so worth it! Nope, no name yet. I usually name my females, as well as some longer lived males, but not until I get a feeling for them as individuals and their own little quirks. All my spiders are given old people's names because that's my kind of humour. Thank you so much! 😊

I am pleased to report that my order arrived today with zero deaths AND that I received an Ornithoctoninae sp. 'Vietnam Silver' sling as a freebie. Rehousing went smooth with no bolts or escapes. I am one very happy camper. ☺

That's the species currently at the top of my bucket list and you got it as a freebie?!
What can I say? I've just got that flow, you know.

No but in all seriousness, I spent a HECK ton of money and the O. sp. Vietnam Silver were on a 50% sale, so even though I wasn't expecting it it wasn't too surprising that they chose that one as a freebie. I do hope you find one of your own soon!!

Picked up this gorgeous adult female C. cyaneopubescens today. Lovely girl, with a surprisingly calm disposition. This is the enclosure she came with...not a fan of the wood chips. Going to build her a better enclosure for sure. IMG_20230524_191907337_HDR~2.jpg IMG_20230524_191936455_HDR~2.jpg

I purchased a sub-adult Megaphobema robustum from a small pet/reptile store that they had discounted since it had been there awhile and they were trying to find it a good home. They said they weren’t sure what sex it was, apparently it had been rehomed to them from someone else, but they were anxious to get it purchased before/in case it molted into a mature male. But this one is definitely in premolt. About 4.5-5” DLS. I did have to add more substrate and a water dish, which the spider went to immediately. Those seem to be the biggest issues I find even in “good” pet stores, almost always not enough substrate, and often lacking water dishes.

[suspect gynandromorph] Aphonopelma bicoloratum

I'm almost 100% certain the specimen I'm receiving is a gynandromorph. Although a young specimen, its body is distinctively split color-wise vertically. I will make a thread with pictures after receiving it.

Interesting. I'm excited to see what it looks like.
