I mean, it all depends on what someone is willing to pay for what they really want. It might be worth it to some people who really want it as their dream spider. Others, not so much. Most of us though don't have that kind of money (for me, anyway).

Amen brother!!!

I'd consider for the future if she was incredibly cheaper than offered, but right now I'm just mind boggled by the situation that I just had to see what others had to say. :)
Well, you got a good variety of opinions, but ultimately it's up to you!!!

They're definitely a pretty boring though :)
I used to think that for a while too, but over time I've grown to like it more and more as the real gangster of my collection. Raising it from 1/2" to 4.5" has been years of patience. Lol

Agreed! I got my C. Versi sling for $50 and the max I'd be willing to pay to add another friend to my collection would be around $100. But that's just my situation!

Maybe I'm a cheapskate, but no way in hell I'd pay that regardless of the G. species! Hell, you can buy a confirmed female of plenty of other species for a fraction of that cost, but to each his own.
It's the time it takes to raise them, unless you mean brachys dont go for that much, then idk. Im not well versed in new world prices.

I got it at about 1/2" to 3/4" the day after Christmas in 2015 and it's probably closer to 4.25" or so. Hard to accurately measure, I forgot to measure last molt but the last molt took easily a year and a half. I've had it for 6 years 2 months and 11 days and with it being already around 1/2" to 3/4" when I got it I added about 8 months of it's age or so. It's probably around 7 or 7.5 years old.

I live in the desert and the humidity drops significantly here in winter so she sometimes chills by the water dish, so I overflow it a little in the winter.

I can't wait for it to finally get a rose carapax like yours. :)
Mine didn't have the pink on it until the last molt it had, which was about 6 or 7 months ago. Up until then it was always a dark grayish black all over. This last molt it turned gray with a pink carapice. I'd say your next molt or probably next 2 molts it will/should have the pink. I have pictures of it from 6 months after I got it, but not the first day, but I'd have to dig it up.

@Wolfram1 This picture was about a year after I got it. Don't judge me, I was handling her long ago before I got deeper into the hobby and stopped handling lol

no worries, we can't all be perfect from the start, you might have noticed i was pretty clueless about the differences between G. rosea and G. porteri back when i first got this spider too.

Mine was never as gray as yours in the picture you posted until recently. Interesting.

just goes to show why colour is not really relevant to taxonomists, there is just too much variation

No concern for accuracy? Just call it a zebra then. :wacky:
No not really in that scenario, I had already differentiated the porteri and rosea, and the rosea is quite literally the true "rose hair," as i EXPLAINED previously.

Calling it a true rose hair doesn’t help those who know less than you, anyway you do you.

I have some 8 legged zebras to feed.

If i clarify it shouldn't be an issue, and this is the 1st time ive joined the rosea-porteri discussion.

I have some zebras arriving in the mail today, cannot wait for them to get their adult striping.
