@Matt Man You aren’t concerned with the wild MMs bringing anything “untoward” in her enclosure with him?
Yes, I do have concerns. I typically isolate them for a week or 2 and do checks. So far, so good.@Matt Man You aren’t concerned with the wild MMs bringing anything “untoward” in her enclosure with him?
Most likely A. iodius in 29 PlamsSome of my family lives in 29 palms CA and sent me this. I know it's a MM, but that's all I can make out

Would definitely see some A hentzi if I went to visit my fam in Wichita Falls TX as well.
I love seeing Ts out and about!
That's so cool , not that she ate them of corse but the fact you breed the wc males and you found Mavis and she was basically going for a jog speedy gon spider , so cool she's called Mavis too, it's what my mum called all the house spiders when I was a child it's a great spider name! Well I definitely have everything crossed that the next sac is successful and you get lots of little baby's and please ppl keep this thread going with your wild t pics I love itI kidnap one every now and then. Bring him home, to pair with my female, then I re release back into the wild. I produced the 1st or 2nd Sac in captivity. Sadly Momma I think ate them. My friends sac (the other sac) was good and almost all the slings went to Europe. View attachment 456216
I have 3 total, Mavis and then two juveniles I have raised. 1 matured and hooked out so he is attempting to pair with Mavis right now. The 3rd I am waiting on a molt because at an eyeball, it appears it is a 'she'That's so cool , not that she ate them of corse but the fact you breed the wc males and you found Mavis and she was basically going for a jog speedy gon spider , so cool she's called Mavis too, it's what my mum called all the house spiders when I was a child it's a great spider name! If that's her not long moulted I would hate so see what she's like when you over feed her dam chocolate crickets jks aside she's truly stunning though . I can see the appealother breeding pictures. 2023, my male is a bit skewed, but it worked out because Mavis just molted

2021 pairing that produced a sac in 2022 (about a year gestation)

She's never overfed. 2x a week @ tops, typically once. Yes, they are beautiful and very sweet, never kick hairs and out most the time. My younger (suspected female) is quite the burrow digger while Mavis is not. She has a burrow and seems quite happy with it, and the only time she dug a lot was when she was gravid. Yes we are very lucky. The inky black on the MMs is pretty common to Aphonopelma, that is how the first Johnnycashi was found and got the name. I'll keep people posted on the processAwwww look at them poor skinny boys , they almost look ink blue , I can see why you like them so much I had never even heard of them before this post now idk how I don't have ever survived without one! They’re gorgeous I wish they were easier to find in the UKI kidnap one every now and then. Bring him home, to pair with my female, then I re release back into the wild. Yes, we are very lucky to have them just wandering around. We are working on getting more to the UK. A friend and I have the only captive breeding programs going. 1 set of slings went to Europe last summer. I am pairing right now which means Summer of next year slings (fingers crossed)They’re gorgeous I wish they were easier to find in the UK
I’m super jealous of these people who live near tarantulas and scropions too it’s gotta be awesome
as their exoskeleton gets old it gets a dusky mink brown that glows bronze in the sunlight. Freshly molted they are ink black. Is she more grey or black? Beautiful ole gal!
if you ever plan a trip to So Cal give me a holler. Texas is great, and probably closer / cheaper. My buddy was in South Texas near the Mexican Border and tons of moderatum. Big Bend is also good, more anax and hentziMan......I would so enjoy living in the states where this happens.
Tarantulas do not live naturally in my state.
I Think next year I'm going to look into setting up a vacation package to one out of the many states where tarantula mating takes place.
I know Texas sets up group tarantula hikes.
A. moderatum is one of my favorite Aphonopelmas. Been trying to find a legit captive bred sling for sale for yearsif you ever plan a trip to So Cal give me a holler.
