Just wondering who’s keeping any land crabs out there excluding vampires/hermits(no hate, love them both and plan to keep some, but they’re more commonly seen these days).

Or any aquatic(salt or freshwater) that occasionally come out of the water?

Personally, I’ve been wanting to find cardisoma guanhami, but they seem to only be available certain times of the year.

I definitely have been slowly planning out a few builds for some larger species of landcrabs, I almost picked up multiple different species last year, but havent jumped in fully yet to the building part on anything yet. I also may also want use these few othe large tanks for even more species of Geosesarma hah.

I gotta get some geosesarma at some point! Curious, what species other than geosesarma were you thinking of getting?

I have a tank that’s been set up for Gecarcinus for a bit, but I am thinking of potentially building a set up for some Metasesarma. I also have a group of Lepidothelphusa that are proving very difficult to breed and seem to have higher fatality rates than WC Geosesarma.

I’m currently setting up a chameleon enclosure and a new tank for my cardisoma, but when they’re done I’ll be looking at some new projects.

Bought a rainbow crab two month ago. Barely even see him. He just hides in his hides or substrate, and whenever you try to get him out he just pinches you😤😤 He's curious, though. Noticed how he would stare at me when I'm doing things on other side of the room.

Also this little bastard threw his food in his pool when I was at work, the smell was horrible

Still a nice pet terrarium

Hahaha, my C guanhumi loves tossing stuff all over the place and especially in the water. He will pull the live rock out of the SW and put it in the freshwater 🤦🏻.

good to know you still have some of the lepidothelphusa, sorry they haven’t had any babies yet. I am having a similar situation with my menneri. They molt, mate, eat, and lay eggs, but I can’t get babies.

Yeah nope they are not leading to any crablets either. I am thinking they need possibly much deeper water and constantly flowing water as well. This is just judging from the behavior I have witnessed in them.

Last week I set up a tank with deeper water and a constantly flowing pump that splashes over some rocks and wood. That picture is from it. Hopefully I get better results keeping them this way.
Do you still keep the tiomanicum? I miss them

Yeah I think this should help us get them figured out! I have the constant water but need to set up a new one with more depth!
And
Oh yeah I do, funny story both my male annd the young female from the original group like 3-4yrs ago are actually still alive in the original tank. and also the G Sp. red ruby just had a massive clutch of crablets like 40+ about 2 weeks ago, and just went through their first molt or two

Here one of the Geosesarma tiomanicum
