Lives in a burrow like other mygla's but has fangs that face each other and ballooning slings, truly unique spider. This is the Eastern Mouse Spider, or Missulena Bradleyi. Immature female
If you google them and look at images, you will see that they are probably the most hideous looking spider out there
 
@RezonantVoid when you say modern do you mean it is a 'true' spider? can't tell from the pic vut it certainly looks like a mygalomorph(spelling?) to me. (looks like the fangs would move parallel to the main axis of the body rather than perpendicular to it which i thought was one of the primary identifiers...) Either way, very cool!:cool:
