We live in Granbury, TX and she was caught in our front yard ~ 3 months ago. She seems to love her habitat!! She’s eating very well!!! (Crickets ) Last week she finished her first molt successfully since we’ve had her!! The T’s are so beautiful and intriguing to me now that I’ve gotten over my fear of them!! I just wanted to say THANK YOU so very much for taking time out of your day to help me! You have no idea just how appreciative I am!! As well as @VanessaS !!! She’s so sweet and both of you have been so informative and helpful!! I don’t know what I’d do without this Website!!! THANKS FOR BEING HERE!!!! Oh and BTW, do you happen to know anything about F’ing CENTIPEDE’s!?!?!?!?!?!?
@TarantulaMom How awesome you found it in your yard in Granbury. I used to be in Granbury all the time because I dated a girl that lived there. I’m in Dallas. What you have is definitely Aphonopelma hentzi. It is the only species that occurs in north Texas. Only here, they are called Texas Browns of course!
@AphonopelmaTX that’s awesome to know!!! It’s so cool to know her exact breed!! Richochet will be stoked to find out!! They say that the T’s are larger in TX this year and it’s a mass breeding this year as well!! So we’ve been out “Herping” every day! Lol
@TarantulaMom I’ve been trying to get out to see the tarantulas in my area, but every time I get the chance it rains. We’ve had so much rain so far this summer I do not doubt at all there would be more of them out and about.
