G. pulchripes sling

You know you have a happy sling when the abdomen is bigger than the rest of the spider combined.
Quite the cutie T there.

Mine love crickets. That is all I am feeding my P Cams and G. Pulchripes.

Then you refuse to have good eaters:)

I have dubia and realize the value they present...still, I buy crickets weekly...and mealworms and superworms.

@EulersK @cold blood
I actually want both too. But so far I am struggling on the Dubia's. I have to get them by mail order since I don't see them locally available. And my few attempts with them didn't go well.

But I am tired of going to Petco or Petsmart on a weekly basis for crickets. Buying close to 100 crickets weekly at a pet store is expensive as well. I want to get something setup before winter sets in here.

@Jeff23 Too late IMO. When I got mine, I didn't touch the colony for nearly 5 months before it was to the size where I could feed freely....of course, you could just get a huge colony....but hey, @EulersK actually breeds and sells dubia, so maybe this was fate:)

@cold blood Agreed, it takes awhile for them to get going. Even with heat pads, mine pretty much stop breeding during winter months. Like you, I left mine alone for about 6 months before I could start using them as feeders. They breed pretty quickly (females produce ~30-50 nymphs every month), but they take forever to grow. But yes, I do sell them :D

@cold blood I actually meant getting crickets going on the breeding. I still need to test my T's more for willingness to eat dubia's. I won't pay the high price for the overnight shipping of dubia's unless I am also buying T's from the source. I got my original ones when I bought some T's from Jamie's.

@Jeff23 Overnight shipping isn't needed on dubias. I ship mine snail mail, never had a death. Have you looked into how to breed crickets? It's a pain, they smell, and they're extremely fragile. I wouldn't recommend it.

As for willingness to eat dubias... no animal will starve itself. All tarantulas take eventually. The majority don't mind dubias at all, and the minority that do don't have an issue for very long.

@EulersK Are they okay if temperatures are really cold or hot? Right now I think I have too many slings to have much time to deal with any changes in diet. But I would like to play with this and compare them in a couple months after work slows down a little.

I don't like the smell of crickets. But I can only smell mine when I get open the tub and while doing the feeding. And lately Petco has been giving me loads of chirpers. This doesn't bother me a lot but it still adds to the noise pollution.
