You might be surprised what you can find if you look at night. Hold a flashlight at eye level and look for the iridescent sparkles on the ground -- those are usually wolf spider eyes. (They have a reflective layer in their eyes.) Usually the bigger wolf spiders have brighter eyes, although sometimes a small spider can fool you.
