My 3.5", female, E. campestratus is quite docile and becomes a "pet rock" in my hand. However, I would caution everyone who isn't already aware of this: she's a very aggressive eater and has mistaken my hand for dinner. She's never actually bitten me, but she did grab onto my fingers.
For...
I've never had a T come down with this, but one question that comes to mind is how much do your dogs shed? If Frontline has been used, are shed hairs flying about? From what I've read, it seems to take very small doses of any insecticide, and, or cleaning agents to cause harm.
No doubt...
She's in the process of wrapping them up as I type this. Of course, I'll be taking the sac away, as it is infertile. Though it is a dud, it's quite fascinating to actually watch the process. I've seen tons of video footage, but never actually witnessed this activity. I am now seriously...
 My S. rubronitens is webbing herself a very elaborate silk bowl, as though she might be laying a sac. The weird part is that she molted a few months ago and has NOT been any where near a male.
On the upside, she's doing a splendid job, and maybe she's trying to tell me...
One question I have is whether he is monitoring mainly through studio monitors. Though they are still capable of some serious SPL, it is still nothing compared to a live band complete with 100 watt guitar heads, 500-1600 watt bass rigs, and of course, drums.
I'd still be inclined to say that...
I had to verify by using the exuvia. They are too fuzzy. I was fortunate to find a juvenile female for sale in my area. She was sold as 'unknown', but the first molt told the tale.
Yeah, I think I'd move one. I don't know of many success stories regarding T's and condo living. You might be able to make it work, but then again, one of them could end up as lunch.
I think Robc has a very successful design for his T. blondi's, but it's way huge and tall. I still wouldn't...
As for a hide, I glued two pieces of cork bark together, (hot glue gun). It resembles a hallow log, but tapers down, so that the bottom is somewhat sealed. Take a look at RobC's tutorials. He has many fine examples of this.
Don't let all of this scare you into not getting one. I really like...
Pokies can virtually teleport, if inclined. I've had a female P.regalis for over a year. She was about 2" when I purchased her, now she's alomst 6". She has never threatened me, and always runs away from me. She usually dives down into her cork hide. She is probably the fastest mover I have. I'm...
As Talkenlate04 has pointed out: it's important to note their size. My female P. regalis didn't display a change in her dorsal marking until she reached +- 4". In fact, I was convinced she was male. Now that she's about to go over the 5.5- 6" stage, both dorsal and ventral views are quite obvious.
Mine is out in the evenings, otherwise he's in his hide.
He doesn't move the substrate too much.
He is a semi aggressive eater.
I keep the enclosure a bit on the drier side, similar to B. smithi, but he has a large water dish.
He doesn't tolerate humans pestering him. While he doesn't...
Well, dependent on size, I'd agree with the Sericopelma rubronitens posts. How large is this specimen? It does look a lot like mine, and my B. vagans is a a juvie and her carapace is not quite fully blackened. She still has a bit of tan left. That goes away by the time they get around 5".
You might want to lower the heat a bit. Though I never use any type of heating lamps/mats for my T's. In the very cold winter months, I leave the gas fire place on low. The idea being that we need to bring up the ambient air temperature.
