I do mine once a week and keep that corner damp. Otherwise, bone dry sub. No molt issues or anything. Mine becomes an arboreal if the sub is any more moist than that.
I don't know anything specific about nutrition, but I think that variety can help with any nutritional deficiencies. If you're worried, change it up with crickets, super worms, etc. and feed your feeders more variety so they can be more nutrient packed and pass that on to your scorpion.
Ha! I think my T. albo is broken! Always is out in the open, never has had premolt behaviors, hates moisture (unless I keep it to one small corner, he becomes an arboreal), and has never kicked hairs once, even when pestered! Very chill little dude. Awesome eater.
My P. imperator is an absolutely bulldozer, so I would worry about a mesh drainage layer. Perhaps get a piece of plastic and drill holes all over it so your scorpion doesn't tear it up/get caught in it. Mine routinely digs along the bottom so I can see where that might be an issue, especially in...
For sure. My 3 inch long P. imperator refused live prey for the first few months I had her, but would DEVOUR any pre-killed prey I dropped by her burrow almost immediately.
Can't really find any faults with it. Pretty user friendly but complex enough to fit a variety of needs. Love the navigation and the insert image. I second the notion for different skins for the app.
For sure. I was expecting way longer periods between molts, so I'm prepared either way! I just LOVE the way they look the week after the first molt. Their colors are just so rich and intense. My boy turns obsidian and gold for a few days before dulling down a bit. IThe brachypelma group has...
Yeah, I assumed it was the warmer summer temps, but I didn't think it would make THAT big of a difference. I got him at about 2.5-3 in DLS and now he has to be at least 4 all stretched out. He's never in a position that I can measure, but I'll see to it one day.
I'm super interested in B...
I have a back-up insectivore for any insect overstock, and the T eats what they don't. Buy hedgehog or leopard gecko garbage disposal to keep on back-up.
I have a juvenile male B. Albo who is both an eating and molting machine! I have had him since February with three molts (and over an inch of growth) on weekly/bimonthly feeding depending on cricket leftovers from other pets. I keep him at room temp, though over the summer my room gets 80-85...
Use Jaimie's enclosure for my B. albo, too. Just bury the hide a bit more! (Sub looks shallow, but isn't. 1.5 DLS, but he digs up the corners on the back of his hide).
