I thought he was a versicolor sling.
@Ghost56 He's grown a little since that picture. He's about one inch now. I made the holes large for extra ventilation because I thought the humidity had to be really high. I'm learning a lot today from this website.

@frodogecko

Probably the worst 'dealer' to buy Ts from. Even Canadians know that. LOL. I see negative after negative reviews on them. They are also usually stubborn on righting any wrongs. I wish you the best.on that, though.

Big holes only lower humidity... Can't tell if they are too big but your definitely cutting it close.
FYI Avic slings need good ventilation, water to drink and food to eat. That simple... They are tropical so best kept no less than 65 degrees. They are tree spiders where it's naturally more aired and less humid than the forest floor. So they do much better with dry substrate. Worry more about providing drinking water. Moist stagnant air is #1 reason slings die. Since you have been worrying about humidity, I'm assuming you might be over misting, therefore, it's a good thing you have a larger container, since a smaller would have become more stagnant much quicker.

@CEC I usually mist every other day which is enough time for the substrate to almost completely dry out. I was afraid to put a water dish in there because I read that slings can easily drown. I'm going to rehouse it tomorrow.

I contacted backwater about their mistake. They're closed now, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how they respond. I hope they do the right thing. The price difference is about $35. I hope the other sling is correct. It cost even more, the B. smithi was $40. It was supposed to be 1/2" leg span, but it was more like 1/4" when it arrived.

A waterbowl is fine. They DO NOT drown. That is a myth. Slings are so light they can literally walk on water. Spiders can also submerge them themselves for a lot longer than you or I. They are not mammals, their lungs are completely different. They can coincidentally die in their water bowls. Which leads to ignorant keepers thinking that must of been the cause of death.
Most of the info on the internet is complete rubbish, along with most care sheets. Ask your questions here, don't be afraid to. Better yet, the search function on here is your best friend as most of the questions you'll come up with has already been asked 100+ times.

Misting every other day is unneeded. Mist one good spray on it's web or side walls of the container once a week. They don't need much water at all when that size, especially when well fed. They are also hydrated from the food they intake. Add a waterbowl if desired, it's not a must but it's assuring to always have drinking water available for them. You can always do both. I'm glad you seem to have sufficient ventilation because misting that much with insufficient ventilation would be extremely decreasing their chances of survival.

@Moakmeister not a GBB, definitely an Avic. just not the species it was was suppose to be. There are many Avic spp. that look like that as slings but Avic. versicolor is not one of them. Since it's from BWR with their scamming ways, it is most likely Avic. avicularia because they are the cheapest and most common Avicularia. Wild caught specimens are still being brought in by the thousands.

@frodogecko

Use the classifieds on this site. Many reputable sellers with consant good reviews that would charge you half the price. If I had those species for sale, I would charge you half the price, as I have done in the past for others. Not only is BWR a rip off, they obivously are scamming people. They have been doing this for years, they know better by now, ignorance as an excuse stopped a long time ago. Same goes for their constant "so called" screw ups.

If you payed for this T with credit card you can dispute the transaction through your bank. It may be tougher with PayPal. On my one incident working with PayPal they weren't very personable on the service. I got lucky and the seller admitted their mistake (not a T purchase).

EDIT* I may be wrong. Most banks only allow a dispute within 30 days after the transaction. You could still try however.
