Thanks Bean,
It's a little fuzzy, but those things look the same. Such a burn.

this might sound dumb ...but worms do the same thing to cats and dogs if they aint treated with medicine..and with this hobby being around for a while and with scientists studing T's there has to be some kinda medication that can be givin to our T's to kill the larva inside? anyone know where to look for this kinda info at? just an idea that might be worth looking into ....sorry to hear about your loss

they hobby does have arachnologists studying tarantulas, but i doubt they have developed medicine as of yet. if there were, the medicine might likely kill the T as well. so either the parasite does or the medicine does.

I know this is an old thread but I used the search (and it worked  ). after I found one of these larva in one of my t's tank. When I saw Scott's picture It was as if he had taken a picture of my tarantula and larva. Got my tiger rump at a show last year. Just thought it was good information.

I dread this sort of thing. So sorry you had it happen to your spider. My C. fasciatum was also purchased at a pet shop... I couldn't say if it was wild caught or captive bred.

Hey PINK are you going to let the larvae pupate? Would be nice to have a photo of the adult stage.
I am curious as to exactly what species of parasitic wasp it is. There are a number native to Costa Rica (not the T hawk) such as Eulophid wasps

These WC imports of "C. fasciatum" are not coming in from Costa Rica... much more likely from Guatamala or someplace else.

Tarantula hawk

I seriously doubt that it is from a T hawk. I have seen thes things attack Ts ack home and one hit and the T is out for the count. then that bugger drags it back into its hole OR digs one itself and buries the T. the larva eats teh T .
It would be interesting tho to see it pupate and see what it is. but as i said i doubt its the T hawk

When I removed it from the webbing it was in, I must have damaged it because it shrank to about 1/2 it's size in one day. Today its dead, totally dehydrated. I had hoped to see what it would turn into also.
