Not sure I understand where you're taking the 95 reading. Is it directly under, and as close as possible to the heat source? Or is this a basking area reading, a place where the snake can get to easily? If it's the latter, I'd say turn it down to about 90. The other temps are fine, though.

95 was barely 1" from the heatlamp. I can place branches up next to the heatlamp for a basking area though, or do they need a flat ledge to lay on?

OH! another question that I've been worrying about. My snake has to stay in my room BUT so does my cat. Should I be worried about my cat being in there? Will the snake consider my cat food and try everything to get at her?

and WHY is it so friggin cold!? Its Florida!!!!

Haha. As long as you keep the snake in its tank, there won't be a problem. (Though, I wouldn't call a well-fed boa a problem...)

As for the basking area, don't put branches near the heat source. 95 is too hot. If it's 95 at 1" away, it should be perfect at the base of the tank.

Edit - I LOVE IT when it's cold. I can't wait to move back to NY. =p

Oh he'll be well fed! The problem is ensuring I dont over feed him. =D

I jsut purchased some clear caulk for the tank to fix the corner! =D After that, I just need the snake and a few odds and ends that I'm kind of holding off on since I dont actually know the size of the snake yet.

Well the corner is fixed and is like new! I went out and got the rest of what I needed. I'm not sure what size snake i'll be getting. I'm going to try to get the youngest possible but everything is supersized juuuuust incase. If nothing else, the lil' guy will grow into everything =D

What do you think? I'm not sure if he will still need a humidity box since that water dish will most likely fit him and half of his brothers as well. The hide is fairly massive as well. I added a few branches since I've read that they like to climb. I also added the lock for the front to help prevent any "accidents".

There will also be a large tile placed over the side w/o the heat lamp to help prevent my cat from laying on the screen top and to add just a bit of extra weight to the lid.

Cage with stand...

What the cage will look like once the snake is in.

I am also retesting the temperature with everything in it to ensure that I wont fry my new baby! Let me know what you guys think!!!

It looks great, but I'd bring the thermometer down to where the snake will be spending most of its time. No use gauging temps in an area he'll never be =p

I put the 150 watt in there last night, came back and it read 115* where the branches were o_O. Not sure if it was just a fluke or what so I tried my 50watt this morning and 83 was the highest that it read on the bottom of the tank. I'm going to put the 150 watt back in and get the temp at the bottom of the tank after I get home from work and see what it is =). I might have to get a 100watt to stay in the safe middle of the two.

I would look into something to hold/secure the heat lamp, if/when your cat decides to snuggle up to the lamp because it's warm and it gets spooked by the snake it might knock it over. There are stands (I don't know how good they are) like this http://www.petco.com/product/5011/Zoo-Med-Reptile-Lamp-Stand.aspx.

Will Hunting: Will Bird is one of the better guys (From what I have read).
