Heteroscodra maculata for me. There's probably a half dozen others that fall into my 'Dream T' list, but I reckon H. mac sits top of the bunch.

Probably the big female P. regalis I've had for the last 5 years, I would never part with it.

Bumpity!

This is a great thread to get some convos going!

My dream T used to be G. Pulchra but now I have one! As of now I want A. Diversipes absolutely epic looking T! Also, A. Fasciculata is up there but more of a pipe dream.

This is about the impossible task, you know? Trying to think, how to come up with one? So I broke it down by what two of each category, arboreal, terrestrial, and fossorial.

So I had a P metallica, a P irminia, a C cyaneopubescens, a G pulchra, a P muticus, and a C marshalli. I eliminate both of the fossorials pretty quick, because frankly, one tarantula, I can't just look at a hole. Then the P irminia comes off. Even though mine is a bit of a show off, many are not and I don't want to look at a dirt curtain.

That leaves three and this is where it gets tough. It's all a gut reaction from here and I'll second guess myself later on. The P metallica comes off the list. A little too shy, the colors eventually fade, and the shortest lifespan. Now two and this is where I cringe. It's like which of your children do you choose. Both have great qualities...

Coin toss...... GBB wins and I'm both happy and sad. I also really wanted a G pulchra. I'd say the same thing if the coin came up heads.

That's tough for me, I would have originally said G. pulchra as well but mine is a bit of a spaz. And in earlier days I would have said my B. boehmei but we don't really get along too well anymore. I might go with A. genic - they fit so many categories that are important to me. Good eater, terrestrial, spunky but not homocidal, beautiful, large.

Though I do love my N. tripepii (which someone back from 2012 said was their "one") but mine spends most of her time pretending she's an ostrich with her head on the dirt.

This is like choosing your favorite child...made even more difficult for me because I have only 2 young adults and 8 new slings, so most of my Ts just aren't old enough for me to make a fair comparison.

Going purely on looks, I think the B. boehmei species edges out the others, but so much of a good T is based on temperament and other factors that it's not fair to do so. Ask me again in a few years.

My dream T would be about the size of a Volkswagen beetle and would destroy my enemies on command.

Baring that, I have so many I like there just is no picking one.

It would also have to snuggle and tolerate wearing cute harnesses and clothing for me.

Since T's seem to have no warm fuzzy feelings towards humans, one the size of a veewee might consider you food...........

Right. The "must snuggle" part implied that they must also have human emotions and love warm fuzzy feelings and snugs :p

I just need to insure she is well fed on my enemies. That or some dubia roaches the size of a kids wagon. Then there is less need to worry. :p

You're leading me to believe that you have a lot of enemies...
Ha ha, I've been reading the new Neil Gamen book on Norse Mythology.... The slaying of enemies and feasting with your forefathers in Valhalla is a big part of my life ideal now. :D

That's so metal! The only thing that might out-metal it is a large group of dwarves coming down from the mountains to do battle on spiky motorcycles.

Literally ANY Xenesthis species. So gorgeous with the jet black and bright pink, with huge size and voracious appatite to boot! Problem is, they are so rare and expensive, even as slings, that I can't find one at a good price... :D

I love all of my tarantulas, but if I had to get rid of all but one, I would keep Bulldozer, my female Grammostola pulchra. She is gorgeous, and her "everything is mine" personality cracks me up.

I have a lot of species on my wish list, so I'm not sure I could pick just one as my "dream tarantula." However, I do like arboreals, the fluffier the better.
