Yellow mark on abdomen?

I’ve had this guy for about a year now. I found him in front of my house, paralysed from a tarantula hawk wasp. For the last few months I’ve been syringe feeding him until he can walk. As he regained his ability to walk, he took a small tumble (a few inches high) while trying to climb in his habitat and was bleeding slightly from his abdomen. Recently I’ve noticed that one of his spinnerets were limp and I checked it out. There seems to be a large area of yellow, and I’m not sure if this is scarring or some other thing IMG_4810.jpeg IMG_7870.jpeg

I'm no expert nor have I really ever experienced this, but it looks like a cyst; or some other abnormal growth.

Could be from the aforementioned fall.

Looks like whatever this is; or a cyst. spinnerets heavily damaged /missing one side.

Looks to me like an injury. You could try putting some corn starch on it to help it clot if the spider is still bleeding.

It’s possible that the mulch caused the injury but I can’t say , check if it’s sharp Or not. But I generally avoid mulch. Although I’ve mixed it with coco fiber if it’s not sharp . Softer substrate is usually better.
You also need deeper substrate, to lessen the fall risk.

Thank you! I’ve had a lot of input about the substrate. Unfortunately when I went to the exotic store they told me it was the best option for tarantulas 😓 I’ll definitely look into softer substrate

Thank you! How much cornstarch would you recommend giving him? He’s about 1 inch long, so still pretty small.

I just measured him and he’s closer to 1,5-2 inches now! He’s growing quickly

Thank you! I’ve never worked with an injured tarantula before, would you suggest I put him in an urgent care style enclosure, or just leave him as is until I find new substrate?
Don't move him at all. He's very fragile, especially after a potential injury. I'd remove any sharp items that could hurt him and try to add more substrate so that he'll be less likely to fall a long distance.
