xenthesis is rapidly increasing my interests... its so hard to tell what one my fav is. i wonder what makes the diff. between like...say... sp. white vs. sp. blue? theyre all similar, yet have subtle (yet noticeable) differences. i still think the immanis or intermedia are my fav.......... this is one genus where the MALES may actually look better than the females. at least in the immani's case

X.sp. "white" has cream/white colored legs as slings that separates them from the other few species in the hobby. Although as adults they are difficult to tell apart from the X. immanis and X. intermedia.

I still don't know what the difference is between X. immanis and X. intermedia :?? At least what we have in the hobby visually looks the same to me from slings to adults. There is some talk of Long haired vs. Short hair , that I never really understood.

X. sp. "Blue" will look like X. immanis and X. intermedia as slings, but will start to show some blue on the legs as young adults opposed to the black legs the other species have. Males of the other species will start turning purple, but X. sp. "Blue" will maintain the blue coloration through out maturity. The pink starburst carapace pattern of X. sp. "blue" is way more dense and striking than the other species and noticeably different.

Edit: Some Xenesthis monstrosa have been sold in the U.S. back in the day as well with some controversy of the legitimacy. I don't know what happened to all of those as you don't hear about them anymore.

I cant believe this thread hasn't had a update in almost a year lol :embarrassed:

Thanks for elaborating on the differences Philth. I been thinking about which Sp. i wanted to shoot for but since you stated the differences, I may go through with the SP blue.

I believe there are two different forms of Xenesthis immanis in the hobby that you can tell apart by checking the setae under one of the legs.Pretty sure that is where the long hair and short hair term comes from.I have no idea what the difference between immanis and intermedia is tho hehe!

Xenesthis sp. "Blue"

Although I strongly suspect my female will molt out this time, I couldn't help myself and give it a go. Hopefully my handicap male will live long enough to mate with her after she molts.
