Jaymz had a great tip on the marked down orchids. If they look healthy buy them. Sometimes they already have buds, just aren't blooming yet. I made friends with the people at Lowe's. $30.00 orchids for $1.00 when they are done blooming. If I do my part they grow just fine.

the bargain table is my friend! I've gotten many discounted orchids that were out of flower but still alive, and a few with unopened buds left after the flowers were spent, and all for a few bucks...a $50 Cymbidium orchid for $5 is a great thing, it was an even better thing when i went to repot it and found out it was 2 well grown plants in one pot. there are deals to be had for sure!

home depot occasionally has 6 to 8 inch hanging baskets of Ludisia for sale, last time around they were $15, the price might go up a little, but that's a HUGE Ludisia for what you pay. and check ebay too...plant deals abound, and there are a lot of canadian plant dealers on ebay.
