I found what I think is a baby wolf spider and grass spider while doing some landscaping today.

What's the care like on these guys, found in MB canada.

Right now I have them in cups with half dry half wet coco fiber and some verticality in the grass spider's cup.

How do y'all care for these, mostly how dry/wet should they be kept.

Pictures of the babies:

They are both around 1 cm in length

I am currently keeping Hogna carolinensis, and yes it is not the same one you’re keeping, but I am sure you will get the basic ideas.

I keep it dry, and every other week or so, I mist the part of the enclosure.

Below are the mine’s molt dates:

Oct 6, 2020
Oct 15, 2020
Oct 29, 2020
Nov 17, 2020
Dec 14, 2020

Below are the enclosures I’ve been / am using:

Been "told" they need to eat more often, regular since they are spiders and not like Tarantulas.
The grass spider webbed up ( high around top) all its incloser and stays on top. Just put live food on web, spray corner of webbing with water.
The wolf spider lays a little bit of webbing on the ground and as a wolf will chase down its live food so not much webbing is needed . I kept the corner with the cap of water moist.

Bith needs to eat more often and give appropriate size .

Leave it to an Arachnerd to carry catch cups on person just in case. I need to start doing that. So many nice jumpers just hanging out I could have caug...given a nice home and all the food.

I love true spiders, but local spiders has always been catch and release in a sense for me. I find local spiders or anything within my range of living to be cool, but I personally would never keep them for very long. Every time I catch a spider, I just end up feeding it well and releasing it back a few days later. There is only one maybe two species of spiders I would keep and breed them into the hobby, but sadly they're not easy to find and one of them is barely documented in the wild which is so hard to find. I know it exists, but it's as hard to find as looking for diamonds.

As for jumpers, I don't know why people like jumping spiders as pets, but they're very common in some areas around me. I just wish some people stop collecting so many during active/breeding season to keep populations stable.

not planning on keeping the grass spider long term because they're so common around me, and they are pretty ugly once their older imo.

But i havent seen a real wolf spider in my area since i moved here and i want to take some pictures of it once its mature.

I 50% agree. I only keep spiders from property me or my family owns. Not me as much because I don't even have a cubic meter of soil. I do throw the spiders in the garden my extra buffalo larva. The jumpers on the 8 acres of my families land are fair game.

None of our bugs in manitoba are at risk of overcollection because they're so boring looking, the only insect that i could think of that people would have an incentive to collect is the luna moth ( for pinning displays) but i've seen more of those alive than i've seen pinned so idk.

If they are legal to collect and you can pin well, I would be more than happy to buy one off you. My brother loves those.
