Why you shouldn't use mesh vents with Ts

Lol. I just make air holes too big and see who escapes. Recently I noticed I'm missing a Cyriooagopus sp. "hati hati" sling...kinda ticked, took it two weeks to find a way out. Likely dead by now.
I had one T that was too lazy to escape. I finally had to leave the top off.

I never got how a tarantula uses its fangs to cut through the mesh. They're not sharp, they're pointy. They dont have serrated edges. If someone has a video of a T doing this, please link me to it, because I can't use a spear to cut down a tree.
If you look at the picture you can see that in this case it didn't do much more than pull the screen out of the frame. A tarantula can get some pretty good leverage going with it's curved fangs. Also for the times where they actually break the wires. Repeated bending of most metals causes the metal to become brittle at the point of the bend. At a certain point the metal starts to pull apart at the grain boundaries and it then snaps. Light screening such as this is fairly weak to begin with. For instance I have had to replace the screen in one of my windows twice in the last couple of years, because of a cat.

As to cutting down a tree with a spear; it's not the preferred tool, but you could do it. I've done it with a pocket knife....little tree though (maybe 8 inches)...lol
