chance

Well, I have purchased exactly 2 regalis slings so far. One became confirmed female, and the other maled out a couple weeks ago. So it seems I lucked out, getting a male and female. I can understand people getting frustrated with these imbalances of male to female the thread brought up. I would be wondering what happened too. I guess the best advice might be to buy such a small sling (mine were around 0.75 inch), it shouldnt be singled out as a male, and then maybe the chance would be good for getting what you wanted. Seems like it SHOULD be near 50/50.

Reptists opinions on the subject

I have sold a few spiders here on the boards, and I am one of those who likes to sex their T's as young as possible, plain and simple people like to know what sex they are buying and I have found that this helps w/ sales and also is a bit more profitable, although after you subtract the money you lose by not being able to sell the males as unsexed and having to sell them at cost most of the time, that extra profit only exists if you get lucky and have a bunch of girls come out of any given group, I cant say I sex every molt but if the spider is a species that sells well then I rarely let a molt go by w/out trying to sex it at least, once it is sexed I list it as what it is and if I was unable to make a definate decision based on the condition of the molt then it remains unsexed till the next molt, I do not ever sex a spider without an exuvium, no matter what size it is, I do not believe that it is a 100% method on any species at any size, so from time to time you will see a 3-5" spider on my list that is unsexed, and you will also see this reflected in the price of the individual, these are spiders that I have recently aquired and have not gotten a shed from yet, I've noticed that the ratio of M/F among these spiders is about 50/50 however due to obvious concerns most end up w/ me till the next molt when they are sexed one way or the other and then they tend to sell rather quickly (if female) or I give them away/breedloan them to those that can use them (if males) rarely do I offer large males for sale on my list unless they are a sought after species or I have females to go along w them, I hate watching them die so if I dont breed them then its usualy a "if you pay shipping you can have him" type deal, with a "if you are sucessfull, give me a good deal on some slings" thrown in for good measure, and sometimes they do!!! There have been times that I have bought a 'sexed' spider, sold it , and then been left holding the bag when the T molted out the wrong sex and I kick myself every time for not waiting and sexing it myself, but generaly if the person is someone I have dealt with before, and the spider has alot of the charactoristics of the sex they claim then I usualy take their word that they have seen the exuvium, and will mark the spider accordingly, if it comes back on me then I let the customer keep the missexed spider, give them the purchase price in credit and then confront the one who sold me the T, These sellers are never given the benifit of the doubt again and consequently seem to "fade away" more often than not, as far as my dealings w/ them go.
Most anytime you look at my list you will see some males offered, usualy at ridiculously low prices, youll see alot of females offered at below market prices, and you'll see some unsexed spiders as well and at varrying sizes usualy priced a hair above the price of the males, I try and be as fair as possible to all I deal with and never sell a sexed spider as unsexed, as close knit as this comunity is, a dealer would be ripped apart in a few months if this was his practice, Its been a pleasure dealing w/ you guys the last couple years and if you have any advice, concerns or q's ever about my service then feel free to speak up.
I do this cause I like doing it. I work a full time on the side to take care of the bills and sell spiders pretty much just to order more spiders, and occasionaly add one of my favorites to my personal collection, hopefully, now that some of my breeding projects are starting to produce a little more consistantly there will be a little bit more money to play with which will mean even better prices for you guys, and maybe a few more "keepers" for me, (cant complain about that), you guys rock and I really do appreciate all the buisness. If you haven't dealt with me then I hope to hear from you soon, if you have, I'll talk to you again soon.
My only advice would be to buy from an experienced and reputable dealer if you want experienced and reputable service! PEACE B.
