Why is my T not jumping?

And their use? Are you saying those "feathery hairs" are for jumping, leaping or flying?
Please save your patronizing for someone else, I used the term "feathery hairs" as we're obviously dealing with someone who is new to arboreals and possibly new to T keeping in general. What I'm saying is that they are physiologically lighter spiders with evolutionary adaptations that allow for leaping and landing safely.

I understand the OP being new however your statement pretty much concluded, correct me if I'm wrong, that those "feathery hairs" were for some benefit in jumping, no?

Defensive much? I'm asking a simple question based on your exact wording for clarification. Take it as you will but I see no foul.

Because the fact of the matter is they are arboreal tarantulas and can leap great distances and land safely every time. There is a reason for those feathery hairs after all, go figure.
If you would like however to take this to PM's since you seem a bit "set off" by this please do so.

Thx all

Thank you for your responses. I have asked that question also because when I went to the pet shop where I have bought my T. The lady there was telling me to be careful with it 'cause it is capable of jumping. So that is where everything started, lol. But no worry guys, she is well since the first day, and seems to me that she is more calm with me right now...

She is currently on the couch with me and I see that on her abdomen by the side of her head, there is white stuff (white hair I imagine, eh). What can that be?

No, actually my statement pretty much concluded that the hairs allowed for slower descent, but being that it was a vague statement meant to be easily understood by someone new to arboreal tarantula propulsion dynamics, I can see how you might have gotten that idea. Hope that clarifies it for you. Hairs of any kind would not aid in the physics involved in an arachnid propelling itself forward through the air.

Greetings!!

I recently got my first Tarantula and am very happy about it.
It's a Pink Toe (female) and she's about 20 months old.
But the thing that bugs me, well, not really... but I just want her to jump!!
Take a leap (baby).. haha!

She doesn't jump like the others I saw on Youtube which were younger than mine!!

Is there a way I could make her jump? ;)
My avic jumped at first a lot, but I discovered it was me behaving badly, even doing the poop canon .Now I know how to handle her,and its is to not and she is a mature female that I am now looking for a mate to breed :)

Bring it outside- It will surely jump there...haha. If you really wanted to see it jump, you could hold it near a window (Curtains would be best) and It will most likely jump..Be sure to do it Low.
