ive always had good luck with females I just count on a 30% female rate when I buy so I get enough to end up with 2 or more. I think that its heat related lots of egg laying animals will go higher males/females just by changing incubation by raising or lowering temps by 2 to 3 as for sexing slings with a good microscope its not hard just be carful opening the molt I like to put them on a wet paper towel in a deil cup for a couple hrs first but to think someone is going through the trouble for any Ts that cost less then a few hundred is laughable as it is I only do it when behavior points to male/female and I want to know if im right i find it best to just get 5 to 10 of any t i want to breed, i have always gotten 2 or more

Absolutely not in my decades of keeping tarantulas. Doesn't apply across-the-board in the animal kingdom. Tarantula sex ratios have a lot to do with how far males have to travel to find mates, and far much females are spread out. Number of eggs-per-sac and size of slings are also carefully fine-tuned to conditions and predation in specific habitats. Reptile people soon find out that little of what applies to their animals is relevant to tarantulas. Please don't go starting rumors for things you don't know anything about.

Doesn't that....only apply to some reptiles?

I thought I was just an alligator thing.:?

According to Widowkeeper it's common in egg-laying animals. Too bad the poultry industry hasn't found out about this. They wind up with millions of unwanted male chicks every year.

I guess Vlad the Impaler , prob wouldn't mind such a thing. Seems odd for industry to kill male chickens if they taste the same...
Yeah they should just give them away , or something.

The cost of raising them aren't worth it; there's plenty of females, and they can produce eggs and more chickens. One way or another, many male chicks wind up as animal food.
