no your not alone...<risking moderation> Does this guy live in a cave? IS THERE ANY WAY TO take a picture with SOME KINDA LIGHTING???????? Seriously, lay your T outside in the daytime, upside down and I bet dimes to duhnuts that a spy satellite could give us an easier to discern picture.
My biggest gripes these days go like this: If it was a film picture that came back blurry or too close to focus , so be it. but in the AGE OF INSTANT DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY, this kinda pic boggles the mind. "my camera sucks" doesnt work, the lighting here is the primary problem....
I musta woke up on the wrong side....
T
EDIT: And I know your new, please keep hanging around, but to get serious help you have to post something better'n that blob thing :(

The only thing I've head of are some Ts getting calus like things on the underside of their abdomens from drgging their big, heavy butts on the ground when they walk. But with those pix, I don't see a darn thing besides a blow up image of a very dark spider. :wall: :D

First I would just like to say that just because a camera is digital doesn't mean it was meant to zoom in to the extreme. My camera IS cheap, and I am much too poor to buy a better one right now. (maybe my boyfriend can buy me a better one for xmas) It takes regular pictures just fine. That being said, this is my final attempt at pics. I tried on every flash setting, zoom setting, and pixel setting. I even tried (for the first time) picking up my t by the sides like so many "sex me" pictires only to find out that it really doesn't like that and had to chase it around the house, kicking cats left and right, seeing the infamous hair kicking for the first time with this guy. The lump is so big that it touches the ground in the shadowy shot. I assume it won't cause any problems since it has been there before and after last molt, with no molting problems.

Those are better pics...and that does look a bit odd. Do you know if it was a wild caught specimen?

Is the lump getting bigger with each molt? I tend to think it has to do with overfeeding and the tarantula dragging its abdomen on the substrate, like others have mentioned. I have a B. albopilosum that started showing a similar lump a few molts ago. Before it appeared I was feeding him pretty heavily and he got huge. When I noticed it I stopped feeding so much and with the next three molts it's progressively gotten smaller. Still there but not nearly as noticable.

This is just my guess. It's probably pretty hard to tell what it really is. A lot of possibilities, I'm sure.

I have seen a ton of abdomen pictures and never have i seen an abdomen worn off on the bottom.

What kind of substrate is in your cage? (please dont say aquarium gravel...)

i cant really make out the lump but it appears to be between that large worn off area and the spinnerettes right? weird question...Is this a Wild caught specimin? and if it is, keep an eye on the "Lump" if it is moving your spider may have been bitten by a wasp, and well that may be the wasp larvae inside it's abdomen. otherwise i havent got a clue.

Peat moss, there is some green moss and cork bark for decor.

Not WC, in fact, got from Swift's. It may have been fat 2 molts ago, but since then I have been watching its weight better. The worn off part is the lump. Huge isn't it? I tried to show in the shadowy pic that it actually touches the ground at rest, but not while walking.

Oops, I forgot. It got bigger when it molted, and appeared the molt before. I just assumed it was a molt deormity, but figured it would get better, not worse with another molt.

Thanks for the side shot (albeit fuzzy, i understand). The lit pic is good too. I can say in all honesty that it doesnt bode well, whether it is a parasite or some sort of injury. I had a chaco with a big knot on the outside and it didnt make it 8 months from aquisition..

I guess no one can GOOGLE a word

According to the Urban dictionary a FUPA is <edit I am not even going to link it.> Just Google it, but the NICE version = FAT UPPER PUBIC REGION... hopefully pubic isn't a naughty word around here.

We'll just let the FCC decide for us if pubic is an "unfit" word.
Seriously though, I Googled it. But in this T's case wouldn't it be a F.Lower.P.A?

And even more seriously, I've never seen anything like that on a T and I hope that it's nothing more than an unharmful abnormality.

I don't know about FUPA, but that abdomen is DEFINITELY FUBAR! Doesn't look good, again, check the thread referenced. And best of luck!
