Why Beefheart?

I'm feeding my slings some beefheart today and I realize that I see it recommended as a supplemental food source to be used for variety but don't know why so why beefheart? What makes beefheart preferable to say steak, chicken or liver? I'm just curious.

I believe it is because it has virtually no fat. It is pure muscle.
