Are they more interesting than Pokies? What is it about the south-east Asian ones? I guess India and Sri Lanka are considered South Asia. What's the most interesting south-east Asian species?
I have never kept any arboreal Ornithoctoninae so I'm going basically by looks. Stripes are nice, but I find the subtlety of the Ornithoctoninae much more appealing. Besides, they also have a bulk to them which makes their size more impressive than the Poecilotheriinae even if they have similar legspans. Seeing video footage of both groups in their natural habitats, I just find something more special about the arboreal Ornithoctoninae than the Poecilotheriinae. There is no logic to it, just a visual preference.

If you understand what they need to thrive, then yes they're fairly visible. If you don't meet those conditions exactly, then you'll never see them as they will stay in their burrow where the microclimate is closest to what they need to survive.

That’s it. Husbandry. Once you get it right, asian arboreals, beside pokies, are fascinating.
