If you want another Tarantula, but aren't sure what to get, this might help!
I'm just going down to the genus level, not species.
Some species are larger than others--not all Pokies are huge, and not all Avics are medium/small, these are just generalizations to help narrow down what you want to get.

I'm also not going too much into detail as far as appearance and temperment, because that's too subjective.
I'm also not going to list every genera, just some of the more popular ones.
If you want something more obscure, do your own work!

1.) Do you want a New World, or an Old World T?
  • New World, see 2
  • Old World, See 11
2.) Arboreal or Terrestrial?
  • Arboreal, see 3
  • Terrestrial, see 7
3.) Small, Medium, or Large?
  • Small, see 4
  • Medium, see 5
  • Large, see 6
4.) Suggested genera: Tapinauchenius
5.) Suggested genera: Avicularia,Iridopelma
6.) Suggested genera: Psalmopoeus
7). Small, Medium, or Large?
  • Small, see 8
  • Medium, see 9
  • Large, see 10
8.) Suggested genera: Aphonopelma (dwarf species only) Cyclosternum,Holothele
9.) Suggested genera: Aphonopelma, Brachypelma, Grammostola
10.) Suggested genera: Acanthoscurria,Lasiodora,Nhandu,Theraphosa, Pamphobetus
11.) Arboreal or Terrestial?
  • Arboreal, see 12
  • Terrestrial, see 17
12.) Small, Medium, or Large?
  • Small, see 13
  • Medium, see 14
  • Large, see 15
13.) Suggested genera:
14.) Suggested genera: Heteroscodra, Stromatopelma
15.) Suggested genera: Lampropelma, Cyriopagopus,Poecilotheria
16). Small, Medium, or Large?
  • Small, see 17
  • Medium, see 18
  • Large, see 19
17.) Suggested genera: Phlogiellus, Coremiocnemis, Eucratoscelus, Harpactira
18.) Suggested genera: Pterinochilus
19.) Suggested genera: Pelinobius

Id check that over, I think some things got messed up in the post.... For example some are missing and H macs and stromatapelmas are small arboreals, not large.

I don't know of any small terrestial Old World species off-hand, and I have them under Medium, not small. Since H.mac can get to 6"+, and Stromatoplema are about the same size I put them under medium.
EDIT: I messed up the numbering.
2nd EDIT: Fixed the numbering.

Pretty cool, end results should be links to picture threads, or something similar.

Then it should be stickied...

Few more things:
Spelled Pterinochilus wrong
Hysterocrates are as big as Pelinobius (at least gigas is....)
No Chilos or Haplos? They're pretty common and popular. Could have another category for obligate burrowers (pet holes)

I'll think about that. Not promising it.
I like the sticky idea though! :D

I'll fix the spelling. I'll put in a disclaimer that these are generalizations, and double-check on Hysterocrates. Differentiating pet holes and terrestrials--maybe. I'm not all that familiar with haplos, are they medium or large?
By Chilos do you mean Chilobrachys? I'm not familiar with them, but I don't have a problem including them.

There are a ton of dwarf and small OW terrestrials (Phlogiellus, Coremiocnemis, Eucratoscelus, Harpactira, etc)
Added.

Question

When you are finished with this, it would be great if I could post it on my site. If that's okay?

Go for it, just be sure you credit me, and include a link to my (currently still in the works) website.
I'll provide the link later..I've misplaced it.:8o

Good deal and will do. Thanks.
Here it is. I think. Been awhile since I logged in, personal life, motherboard fried, etc.
Not really much of a site so far.
Edit: For now, I think we've got a good start, I think using it as is is fine. I'll keep this on my site as well, and I'll keep that up to date.

Jeremiah, Nice! I approached to give it a trial run as one slightly more advanced than an absolute newb and it worked for me :) Sticky the fire out of it!!
