Any recommendations for places that sell smaller pieces of cork bark in bulk? It can be a chain or an online vendor. I have looked at pet stores but they want 5$ for a small single piece!! Thanks!

no local pet stores? Petco and petsmart really don't have any cork bark besides the hollowed out logs, by local pet stores I mean like the smaller not chain pet stores. You could probably order bulk from online

amazon sells cork wood in bundles along with big chunks you can break down to what you need but be warned its easy to browse and end up buying all sorts of other stuff too

How much are you needing? You can get like 1 pound on Amazon for $30 but that's still overpriced TBH. The real deals are like 5 pounds plus, where you'll start looking at $10 a pound and less (depending on how much is purchased) on ebay or some of the bulk distributors like Pangea Reptiles.

I bought 10 pounds about a year ago (bought a lot of bulk supplies when COVID hit like enclosures, R/O water filter, feeder colony, substrate, etc) and even with setting up quite a few adult enclosures, I haven't burned through half.

I really don't need much. It's hard to find smaller pieces and I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. All I have are slings anyways.

Muahahahah, pure crazyness!

Cork bark is like gold in the U.S.? Here in Italy I get 1 KG of that for $7 :singing:

Check this:
<edit>

Or this, 2 KG of cork bark for $10:

<edit>

Ask to those if they accept to shipping to the U.S, you never know.

Well frick. This thread just made me realize Ive been way overpaying for corkbark. My local pet store is insane compared to this for cork bark prices. 😬😬

I didn't even think to price hunt for it if I'm honest. I feel really dumb right now. 😑

We all started there, don't beat yourself up over it. Bulk purchases of enclosures, substrate, and cork only really start becoming necessary when you start expanding your collection out past 15+ and it keeps growing.

Well, tarantulas wise we only have 8. But we also use it for some of our tortoises and turtles and we're up to 8 there too, plus my mom finally finished grieving her last loss and is diving back into reptiles and tarantulas again, and we share supplies with one another often, so it may be time to do so honestly. Plus, I'm kind of spoiled honestly. If I say "Babe can I get this spider?" He typically says yes. 😅

Sounds like it's time to go bulk then lol. One annoying thing I found out though is sometimes you'll get less pieces than you think you'll get. Since it's by weight, and thicker pieces weigh more, if you get any that are over 1.5" thick, it really eats into the total piece count. Those thicker pieces are perfect for reptiles, but practically worthless for use in sling enclosures.
