I swear almost every scorpion I seem to be catching lately is gravid. So hear is my question - do Centruroides sculpturatus (LOOK Tabor, I used the scientific name....) ;) have a breeding season or is it year round? I guess I'm wondering if this is going to continue or may stop soon.....I thought in Arizona scorpion season was mainly August-October. I don't know where I read that though.

They mate whenever they feel like it. Although if it's to cold they might not mate so I guess winter is really the off season.

While mine are obviously "in the wild", I have 11 gravid females from just one of my colonies! Every night after the lights go out it seems like they're all having sex... uh, I mean dirty dancing. KID YOU NOT!

I know! I'm glad I found this site. I truly do not like killing anything. I'm glad I haven't found any black widows in awhile, I wouldn't know what to do with them.

Well you guys are still having better luck than me! I have 8 C.sculpturatus, a mix of males & females that have been together since Nov. '08 with no gravid girls yet!
Maybe I need to up the temp, light a few candles, put on some Barry White...?..

Direwolf, that is why I kept wanting to send you the mom and babies that I had, remember! I should have just sent them to you anyway, you would have taken good care of them. :( The person I sent them too I never heard from again. I hope they are okay.

Yeah, I'm regretting that now. It would have been so cool to have it. There would have been males and females. :(

kathy- they are amazing animals. you really should try setting one up in a jar. watching it build its web and catching prey is truly captivating. def my favorite, imagine that

Please don't bring T's or Spiders into the SCORPION section.
They're already like 10 times more popular as it is.:(
