Isn't that an oxymoron? (Before anybody takes offense, I am joking. I may not listen to country music but I can appreciate the talent that musicians have.)

Do we need to have this discussion again :p
I had a feeling after reading this thread that you would have a reply like that lol ;)

Tarantula vids put to music are lame regardless of the type of music. I won't watch any video if there is music accompanying it, the only thing worse is when people narrate the videos unless its educational which sadly isn't the usual case.

You like music when you watch videos? Then play a CD, if you are posting the vid for the public to enjoy then leave off the cheesy music.

I always have the sound off on my computer, unless *I* am listening to music... so I don't hear the music in vids.

The first feeding vid I watched after responding to this thread, I turned on the volume to see what sort of music was put to the vid... yeah, it was "rock" {D

Personally, My taste in rock veers towards bands like Disturbed, Rob Zombie, and Metallica, anything like that.

By the way Hobo, the music in your vids is funny and really clever, I like it.

hahaha that was awesome

I like hearing the 'natural' noises in tarantula feeding videos. To me, there's nothing more hardcore than hearing the tarantula SLAM into a prey item or the scamper as it chases down a cricket, etc.

Hahah I noticed the same thing.
Though there isn't anything wrong with liking hard metal, I don't think it makes for good background music. Then again, I'm sure not everyone would appeciate/understand the music in my vids either.

+1!

I'd much rather hear what the T is doing, rather than what the vid maker wants to hear LOL

I used to listen to metal, hardcore, rock, etc. Now I just listen to whatever I like. Mostly trance and some hiphop. I don't like songs in T vids either, but whatever I don't care.

For me, it depends on the video. Handling and molting go wel with music. Feeding and educational/informative doesn't work so much. However, you could do an elaborate music video with feeding, handling, molting, and other T behaviors, and pull it off well.

The trick would be finding something everyone would not mind listening to.....which is just about impossible, given the wide variety of musical and lifestyle tastes amongst hobbyists. In that case, I'd try to find something melodic without vocals, but had a good backbeat and groove...a nice mix of classical, electronic, rock, ambient and acoustic elements. Then sync up the video to the flow of the music.

*shrugs* I don't see the big deal with background music of any sort in a video... if I don't like the song/artist, all I have to do is click that magical little button that mutes it and TADA!! No more music. :p

Personally, I've liked spiders before I ever liked metal... before I even knew metal music existed, actually. I've always been interested in "creepy crawlies" of any sort since I was little... though I'm pretty sure it had/has no connection with my love of metal music. My taste in music is pretty varied to say the least... from black/death/thrash/3 billion other sub-genres of metal (LOL) to industrial/ebm to classical/opera to oldies to psychobilly/rockabilly to classic rock to latin to trip hop to many other genres... it's a wide spectrum. Most people upon looking at me wouldn't even guess I'd like metal! I'm typically the girl in feminine, light/colorful/retro sundresses and heels and yet metal is one of my favorite genres by far. :D

I fail to believe many people into metal keep a tarantula to be more hardcore... you know what? Even IF they did... as long as they care for it and respect it as a pet too, then that's fiiiine by me. Just warn me when the music on Youtube may be crazy loud...
... well, I take that back. It's pretty funny to be jolted all of a sudden by the music... makes for good times when you want to shock someone else too. ;P Tee hee.

I don't think that most of the vid makers are thinking "this music makes my T look awesome wicked bad", I think they are linking music that they like to the T's they also like. People listen to whatever music fits with them no matter what type of music it is. I have seen all types of reptile and arachnid vids with many different types of music... Why get judgemental on them?

I know I shouldn't criticize other peoples' tastes in music but it gets annoying having to reach for the mute button every time you access a vid and there's some guy screaming in the background.

I enjoy some of that hard rock myself and used to be a huge slipknot fan.. but it just gets annoying seeing/hearing the pairing over and over and over again.
How do you think we feel everytime we see a video with Jay Z or Beyonce...

Not one person mentioned enjoying the sound of small children screaming, played back in reverse. Am I alone here?
