What's the most venomous tarantulas you have heard about people owning?

That's simply not true though. Very few new world species will give you a nasty bite, and it seems just as misinformed to say that all should be assumed dangerous as it is to say that all are equivalent to a bee sting.
That's not what I was trying to say - sorry if it came across that way.

I was trying to say that it you work with all of your Ts (new or old world) as if they can do you harm then you will naturally take more care and are less likely to be accidentally bitten. It's about how you approach them when maintaining and re-housing.

Hope that's clearer.

I think for most new world Ts the mechanical pain from their fairly big fangs stabbing you will be greater than whatever the venom will cause. I once read a G rosea bite report and the guy said the redness and swelling were less than a yellow jacket sting but it's hard to standardize that since different people react to venom differently.

I'd say for most new world Ts clean the wound with soap and water and rub iodine ointment on it to prevent a secondary infection and you'll be fine. In some articles and YouTube videos they tell you to use a steroid cream or ointment on the bite site to help with the swelling and redness (like with insect stings) but that would be a bad idea as would be using things like sting kill, since tarantula bites leave much bigger puncture wounds which could lead to a topical product getting absorbed into systemic circulation. If the swelling is bothering you use a cold press or icepack after dressing your wound. Also please don't use antibiotics neither locally nor orally without consulting your healthcare professional.

PS: I'm a pharmacist 🙂

Getting tagged by an Avic isn’t fun, and I’m gonna assume any Psalmopoeus wouldn’t be either lol. I would be curious to find out the potency of T seladonia venom. Generally coloration like that is a warning sign in nature. And I have gotten threat poses from 1/2”- T seladonia slings lol

It went fine. My Formosa matured out male, I ended up with a male and female regalis, and a 5.5” female OBT. Then quickly proceeded to get deep into Asian arboreals. Lampropelma, Omothymus, Cyriopagopus, etc. I have only ever been bitten once. It was by a stupid Avic trying to save a male from being eaten because my tongs where out of reach.

I have never gotten a threat pose out of any of my pokies in the almost 15 years I’ve been keeping Ts. They can be a little skittish, but balfouri are more prone to bite. Don’t let an article dictate your opinion on keeping Ts. If you don’t plan on handling the spider, you will never have to worry about being bitten.
I've always heard from folks that M. balfouri is one of the best old world T's for beginners/intermediate hobbyists and almost everyone considers just about every Pokie under the sun an "advanced species". If I was gonna get a Pokie it'd definitely be the P. metallica even though it ranked up at the very top of that "most venomous" list. All Pokies are gorgeous in their own right, but imo the P. metallica is the most gorgeous of them all + I've heard they're actually a little less skittish and defensive and prone to bite than other Pokies like the P. regalis & P. ornata (which ranked #2 & #3 on that list respectively). That said, I'd rather start with relatively slow moving & fairly calm (on average) terrestrial NW T's like A. geniculata and then move on up to faster, more defensive arboreal NW T's like P. cambridgei/irminia & Tapinauchenius sp. before even considering a Pokie.

Your plan is on point. I just wanted to illustrate how husbandry can affect some of these Ts behaviors

Your either lucky or have superpowers lol
Like I said it is the pain tolerance. I got hit by a forklift and broke my hip. I didn’t know. It was painful but I figured since I could walk nothing was broken I thought I was just bruised. A month later I got into a major car accident that the doctors didn’t know how I was alive. I broke my upper body. While they ran CT Scans, MRIs, and X-rays, and ultrasounds when I finally woke up I was asked if I had been in a previous accident or had major trauma before the car accident I asked why then they said I had a fracture on my hip but they didn’t know if it was healing or it was from the accident. I said well I got hit by a forklift at work. They said what? I said yeah they’re like so what happened I said I went to work still. They were like what in the world how? I said idk well I thought if I could walk no matter if it hurt I wasn’t broken because I would think I wouldn’t be able to walk? 🤣🤣🤣 during my stay I only got 1 painkiller. The doctors told my mom they were in shock I was alive because they seen pictures of how my car was missing the whole front end. That they were also shocked at the fact that I was able to withstand so much pain. So I’m sure my pain tolerance is more than others.

I got hit by a truck last year and walked it off after being thrown 5 feet. But that Avic bite? I was a baby about it lol

Tarantula venom isn't really worth fussing IMO, TBH I'd take starting with OW's any day over dealing with urticating hairs. I don't want any T's with ranged attacks!

At my starting point like 5 years ago, I used to think OW's were like some upper tier spiders due to how the internet treats them. Nowadays, I couldn't care less that that's all Australia has, I'd still probably stick with them exclusively if I moved overseas

100% and they completely ignore armor class. How does a spider get a ranged touch attack with no save 😭

Poecilotheria, esp. P. ornata and other Sri Lankan species. Also S. calceatum, H. maculata, C. schmidti, C. hainanus. I've also heard that C. fimbriatus venom is potent. P. muticus is up there too.
