Not a dwarf, but still a smaller T and worth mentioning... Thrixopelma cyaneolum; beautiful, usually placid, often out on display. My personal favorite tarantula species, not common & again not a dwarf, but defo worth keeping an eye out for!

I second the votes for D. diamantinensis, H. formosus and N. incei, they're all gorgeous heavy webbers. I also suggest pseudhapalopus sp Blue, they don't web as much, but mine sits out on display all the time. Here's some photo propaganda!

No one (including me) has mentioned Bumba horrida? They are definitely my second favorite, super fun to own. Great hunters, very lively.

If you want a calm one that doesn't move much....Dopey

If you want a placid one....Happy

If you want one that is aggressive...Grumpy

If you want one that is allergic to substrate...Sneezy

If you want one that stays in its burrow all the time...Sleepy

If you want one that runs from the camera flash all the time...Bashful

If you want one to extract venom for medical purposes...Doc

I think that's all the dwarfs covered 🤣

As a side note, I was walking back from the pub the other night and I got attacked by 6 dwarfs....not happy!
And for those large Ts refusing to get there advertised size .. they are the wicked witch šŸ§™ . 🤣🤣

I love my bumba but didn't think they were considered a dwarf.
Some are close to dwarf size .
My Aphonopelma anax was only 4-5ā€ prior to losing her to a stuck molt ..😢
Two of my favorites same outcome for t vagans. also a favorite. šŸ˜
my parents never complained about tarantula size so i would not understand. They don’t even know what a dwarf is . So a 5-7ā€ t is normal.

Hi there! So i have had jumping spiders for the last couple years. My family finally said i could get a taruntula. Or at least they would think about it. I still wanna do some research on them. Whats the best dwarf tarantulas? If i can get any it would have to be a small one.
Alot of excellent dwarf T's available. You simply have to do some research and decide for yourself.

I second the Homoeomma chilense. It's a stunning T but are going to cost more than other T's.

Pseudhapalopus sp blue is a stunning dwarf but not one I would recommend to someone new. Husbandry wise it's a hardy T with simple requirements. Slow growing is an understatement and a new keeper will be required to have alot of patience.

Took mine 4 years to mature but was well worth the wait. That doesn't mean another sp blue would take as long but nonetheless shows that they grow slow.

The photo below is blurred as it started bolting as soon as I took a photo. I used a flashlight to show the colors but most importantly the sapphire-blue abdomen.

Yeah definitely have to be in it for the long haul for the Pseudhapalopus sp blue but they're so pretty!
I'll add the Cyriocosmus elegans to the list. Mine are still p small but they're great eaters, spend a lot of time out, and do a ton of remodeling, digging, and webbing. Also as a bonus their adult coloration comes in sooo quickly. 🧔

My favorite has been my Cyriocosmus elegans. I was lucky enough to pick up a tiny speck of a sling that eventually turned out to be female. I can't explain why, but she makes me smile. She's so careful and deliberate in all of her movements. She has excavated a surprising network of tunnels in her little enclosure, but mostly stays in a small area of about 2 inches. I can't say I've been disappointed by any of the dwarf species I've acquired, but she's a special one to me.

I haven't had any personal experience with the genus, but a lot of people recommend cyriocosmus. Not very difficult, fast-growing (useful since the slings are small), more common than some other dwarfs (at least in the US), handleable if you're into that (as always, take proper precautions).

Not sure these would be considered dwarfs. While there isn't an exact DLS requirement for a t to be considered a dwarf, I think these get around 5". In my mind, that's just a medium-ish t. Still a neat species.

I had obt that were dwarfs once didn’t go past 4ā€ unfortunately they were short lived so perhaps it was runts or lots of inbreeding from the seller . šŸ„²šŸ™ƒ i’m not sure the lifespan of the species.

I have to say Neischolonus Sp Panama. I have that and Davis Pentaloris which is probably slightly bigger than dwarf but a cool Tarantula.
