What will I do with myself now?

Just as I feared, I found my Emp dead when I got home today. SHe finally passed away.

This is bad enough in itself but now I am completely without a scorp.

Just two empty tanks.

Now the two scorps I do want traditionally do not become available until summer at the shop I frequent.

Should I hold out for the desert hairy and tricolored burrowing or settle right now for a juvie emp or a flatrock?

I would really prefer hold off for what I really want because I like to keep my collection down to about two scorps
but this is the first time in about three years that I have been without a scorp

i belive that u should keep a desert hairy like walton says ... coz if it were me i rather keep a new species of scorp then keep keeping the same ones but be carefull ... desert hairy will sting unreluctantly .. the tri-colour will do will uif u dun mind it hiding ,.. but seriously KEEP MORE!!! 2 IS NEVER ENUFF

i said desert hairy because its easier to keep. youill still get a pretty decent size scorp.. and a more active one i hoe you will enjoy mor ewith your new scorp!

Of course there is excitement in big ones - they are nice, strong, big chelae, harmless to human bla bla bla bla bla... It's 100 % your desidion, buy you shoud at least think of some other possibilities - how about comunal smaller species? It's very intersting to observe them and eventhrough they are much smaller - they give a lot of movement and life in your tank. Think about it

Right now Im just thinking about what is commonly available in the pet trade around my area.

I have been tossing up the idea of either c. vittatus or b. jacksoni for awhile.

All the dealers I know are only familiar with common names so if I ask for a bark scorpion there is no telling what I will get.

One tank is definately resevered for a H. Arizonesis or H. Spadix.

Im just bummin right now and need to regroup before I make a decision.

I agree, it is an addiction!!

When I started collecting scorps I told myself that I will just keep 2 different species of Asian Forest scorps. For a brief moment I was satisfied. Then came opportunities to acquire different species, it would be foolish to refuse.

I guess I'm lucky to be able to purchase scorps for an average of $10 each. I even got some for free! Not WC, but given to me for free.

I currently keep a total of 11 scorps, 6 different species. My female I. Maculatus just gave birth to about 10-15 scorplings, so the number of scorps easily doubled.

Am I stopping here? No way, I want more!

Who knows? I might be able to quit smoking, but I'll never give up scorpion keeping.

You can go for almost any centruroides (exilicauda is sort of dangerous one) and I think Vaejovidae are small, desert loving and comunal? Also B. jacksoni's comunality is sort of discussable thing?
I have one dream to reduce my colection to desert species and have one comunal terarium with a lot of active, small, comunal and fast scorpions. Guys, vaejovids fit my needs?

Im kind of nervous about a communal setup because I dont need any surprises right now. My emps were in a communal setup and they went from two to twenty.

It was definately a fascinating and rewarding experiance but I dont have the time for that right now.

It is something that interests me in the future though.

As for only keeping two scorps that is more of a guideline than a rule.

Im just trying to keep my collection from exploding because im very busy right now.

If something came along that was rare in the pet trade I would definately get it.
