I am getting a 48x24x24 inch tank, and was wondering if anybody had any ideas, it is not good to hold only water, but something like a paludarium would work.

M balfori commununal?

My limitations with enclosures revolve around the height and placement of the front vents, and how much ceiling space I can diminish without blocking them.

i would put a king, corn, milk or ball python. a tank that size would be a great display tank for one of those snakes

It also depends on what you want. What kind of time and effort you can put in. Bigger enclosures offer the advantage of fluctuating less in terms of environmental specs. But it is also a lot of maintenance. You could create a micro habitat that has many inverts in it. I did also think of M balfouri communal, but with 24” height, you will need to add a whole bunch of substrate and it will be crazy heavy.

You could capitalize on it's waterproof-ness and start a serious frog farm. Let the pool portion turn nice and slimey to attract bugs and there you go, hyperactive biosphere. Keep an amphibian diet preferred snake around for population control.

Some type of big reptile ! Maybe a monitor
that's on the small side for monitors. Even Ackies would be better in bigger. The usual monitors (Savanah type sizes) that size enclosure is basically animal cruelty.

Frogs. Gorgeous living room focal point, animals actually suited to such a low ventilated wet thing. loads of pretty green plants. Frogs all day!

If vertebrates aren't the go. A paludatoum with one of the giant semi aquatic entipedes would be cool. A system where bioactive would actually work beautiful. Fish, shrimp, isopods, snails etc etc and a big ol centipede that lives in both dimensions.

I would love a giant semiaquatic centipede, but I don't know where to get them.
