What spider is this? (pics)

I was walking in a park tonight around 9 PM in Little Rock, Arkansas, and I saw 5 of these guys sitting on the sidewalk within close proximity of each other near a grassy field. Their bodies were about 1.5 inch long. Legspan was about 3 inches total for each. They let me get pretty close and take flash pics . These are 2 of the spiders. Can you make a guess of the species? Can you tell if they're male or female?

They sure do blend in well with that sidewalk. Is that maybe why they were just sitting there not moving?

genus Hogna, a wolf spider of sorts.

yep, a second vote for Hogna. species can be tricky to ID with some members of this genus.
