Depending on the quality of your tap water.

Here the quality is among the best, so I use tap water directly. I simply leave it open for about 5 minutes to let chlorine to evaporate.

In some other places they add chloramine, which is more harmful.

Resuming, if you can drink your water safely, Ts too. They don't drink filtered water in nature, simply check that it doesn't have anything "harmful" added to it.

We have very hard water here, but it's good quality and fine for the T's, I've never had a problem.

I use water obtained from a remote region of Mt Everest by female virgins from Tibet. First it’s in ice form, hand carved, and gently brought down. And in a special ritual is slowly thawed to liquid by their thighs, drop by drop, one ice chip at a time, collected in a chalice of pure platinum.

Nothing is too good for my Ts.

Tap water works too.

I get a big 6 gallon jug of bottled water. It's maybe $1 or 2 usd or so and lasts a month for me (few dozen ts, and probably a few hundred other mini invertebrate animals). For aquariums I do use tap water (due to quantity needed) put in sun for 48 hours as those animals I worry about chlorine. Then adjust for pH. For spiders, a little water goes a long way. Tap water isn't a standard term, it can mean millions of things. Everywhere is different. Distilled water is simple. Standadd. Cheap. And without disagreement about what it is.

I don’t drink my tap water nor give it to my animals or water my sensitive plants with it.

I opt for spring water rather than purified (some of them have an ingredients list…) or distilled, for the mineral content.

I use tap water for filling water dishes or moistening substrate for most of my inverts + my snakes/lizard - but I use reverse osmosis water for spraying/misting because the tap water leaves mineral deposits on the sides of the enclosures.
