What kind of water should be used for watering Tarantulas?

I use bottled water for Amilia, my. b. hamorii, because it is convenient. I keep it near her enclosure. She goes through about 2 bottles a year.

I use tap water, but I do let it sit overnight to dechlorinate. Just me. Could prolly dechlorinate just as well in their dish since I've never had a T make a mad dash for a drink immediately after I refilled its bowl.

Depends on how good your tap water is. If it lights on fire, I wouldn't use it.

I use Poland spring water since I don't know what kind of impurities are in my tap water. I dont even recommend the tap water here for humans, let alone invertebrates. The tap water would probably be okay but I figure no sense in even a minimal risk.

I often still see people recommending to rest tap water in an attempt to to gas off the chlorine. The problem is that the vast majority of municipalities (at least in North America) also use chloramine. Below is a little bit of into I copied from a municipal water treatment page online. Basically the practice of resting tap water overnight is no longer accurate or effective as chloramine has been commonly used for decades. If you want to remove it the get an aquarium water treatment and dechlorinator.

I don't know how yall deal with water provided/regulated by where you live that is treated with a bunch of chemicals... that is so crazy. Do you drink that water, or water other animals with it?

I don't trust my tap water, all living things in my home get distilled water. Although, the ant community claims that distilled is not good because it lacks minerals so I may switch to spring water. BUT spring water can be just as contaminated as tap water, it just depends on the brand. I'll be honest, I've been slacking on my list of research topics.. Maybe I'll just get a water filter.

On a side note, one plus to distilled water is it doesn't have any contaminants. Meaning that if you get water droplets on the side of an enclosure they don't leave spots when they dry.

My tarantulas prefer spring water from their country of origin - but when I'm out of that, I just use tap water that has been run through a reverse osmosis filter. (I still tell them it's imported, though. Makes 'em feel special if they think I'm catering to their ridiculous demands.)

Our village - a whopping 250 houses - has it's own water supply. It can be a pain in the behind because if it's getting cleaned we don't have water for a day and when power is out it also means we have no water because out water pump of course uses the same power lines as everything else in the village, but the quality is excellent and there are no chemicals is there.

I am grateful for municipal tap water and for all the scientists who helped make my water safe; I've never had cholera and I have good teeth. ymmv
