@ lucara - glad your mom let you keep it. I also "accidentally found and/or rescued" my guinea pig and my snow corn baby, and my mom also let me keep both! It didn't work as well the second time i tried that excuse, but my mom eventually let me keep the snake (whether she believed me or was just keeping quiet to humour me, i dont know:8o )

YAY!!!! I decided to try feeding my new snake and it went GREAT...well..sorta? I figured since its getting cold outside and hes w/c that he hasnt eaten very much lately sooo...why not try? I warmed up the pinkie and used my tong to try and wiggle it nearby. The instant he got the scent he was curious about it but wouldnt take it. SO, I left the pinkie in the cage with him and came back about 5 min later to see if he was going to get it or not...and the little bugger had already eaten and was started to digest it..>.< well there when my pics that I wanted! Hmph.. Oh well =D You can kinda see the lump in his stomach where the pinkie is.

its a P.o. quadrivittata= yellow rat baby
 Good call.
That's what I said too but I wasn't sure. It seems like every obsoletus ssp hatchling looks the same. I just guessed based on geographical location.

Best of luck Lucara!

Its a yellow rat and they aren't as good of a pet as red rat snakes in my opinion. I would let that snake go and get a CB red rat in a designer variety. If you are going to spend $ feeding it, get something that will make a better pet. JMO.
