Well, then any book is wrong. Besides, I'd be surprised to find a "Cockroaches hate cucumber" comment in "The Old Man And The Sea". As previously mentioned (and I'm not known for BS'ing too much) my dubias never shunned cucumber. I had german roaches in my house and I kept some and they wouldnt touch a cucumber, they even stayed away from the corner of the cage which had the cucumber slice. They eat almost anything, but not the cucumber!
