What is your roach water setup?

Any book will tell you cockroaches hate cucumbers, they have no nutrition for cockroaches, which is probably why they wont eat them unless confined and thats all they have to eat.

I had german roaches in my house and I kept some and they wouldnt touch a cucumber, they even stayed away from the corner of the cage which had the cucumber slice. They eat almost anything, but not the cucumber!

Well, then any book is wrong. Besides, I'd be surprised to find a "Cockroaches hate cucumber" comment in "The Old Man And The Sea". As previously mentioned (and I'm not known for BS'ing too much) my dubias never shunned cucumber. Next in line is the part where we where talking about whater sources and that's why I'm mentioning cucumber in particular because of its high water content in comparison to other fruit.

I usually use honey dew melons and cantaloupe, no water dish in there. I also mist once in a while.

And yet they eat the water gel which truly has 0% nutritional value, go figure.

Now, if you've got romaine lettuce next to cucumber, maybe the cucumber gets ignored since the romaine is more nutritious and an equally good water source. However since this thread is about water sources and not whether you can rear a colony of feeder roaches on just cucumber, I'm willing to bet if you're feeding your roaches a lot of dry goods and using cucumber as a water source/supplement that they'll take it just fine with or without significant nutritional value.

You sure it's not there in the 3rd paragraph on page 132? I could have sworn it was in mine. Maybe that's just the newly revised "Bugkeeper's Special Edition" :?
