Are there any jet black arboreal tarantulas?

(@Leila in case you feel like nitpicking again, was my use of "equivalent" grammatically correct?)

Lampropelma nigerrimum and just slightly less black (some pattern on the abdomen): L. sp. Borneo black, which may be a subspecies of L. nigerrimum.

I don't know how much experience you have, but the whole Lampropelma genus is not a good idea without it - experience, that is.

L. nigerrimum. What people mistake for the omnipresent threat display is actually it raising its arms to present itself for lifting and maybe baby rocked akin to how human babies raise their arms signifying its desire to be carried.

Them dashing around like lightning when the enclosure is opened is actually a sign of excitement or happiness like how dogs run around like maniacs before you walk them. And of course them biting you is actually them just giving you the tarantula teething of affection. So keep those venom sacs dry will ye! It means a lot to them.

I don't think there really -is- one. Even the most docile of Avicularia is going to be skittish. I've got a G. pulchra and her personality is pretty calm, kind of "sweet" even. I can't say that about any of my Carbina/Ybyrapora.

:rofl:Aside from the misspelling in the thread title, I approve.:kiss:

Edit: I also have a case of spider envy now. I suppose I will add the L. nigerrimum to my "must-have arboreals" list.

Avicularia purpurea can look almost jet black they are such a deep purple. And they will have the more easy going temperament that the genus is known for. However, they are all individuals and you could end up with one who is less tolerant that the genus on a whole.
Like all Avics, they will be fast and skittish and they can jump. I find this species to be the most skittish of all the Avics that I keep. They are also noticeably slower growing.
