reptile dishes

Maybe it sounds like I am throwing money out, but I buy those fake rock or slate looking shallow dishes you buy at pet stores for reptiles. They look very nice. Of course, I only have four Ts so I can afford to spruce up their enclosures a little.

Ditto on the Petri dishes. Lab-rat status gets you lots of useful things if you keep bugs.

One of the coolest: Parafilm!
Parafilm has to be one of the COOLEST things on Earth..

When ever I train new interns they ALL go "WOW" when I show them parafilm..

too bad it's not microwavable :(

Sheri, i've only seem them in one wendy's, though i admittedly don't go to many different Wendy's franchises.

You really must check them out, now if only they have lids, oh wait, that was taken care of by the school cafeteria, where i can get the cups plus lids when i order fries, mmmm ketchup...hmmmm...

I use all sorts of things, but for my Ts that like to overturn the dishes, glass ashtrays work well. I get them for .50 apiece from Goodwill. I also use salad dressing and peanut butter jar caps. Some of my Ts don't even get a water dish, since all they do is either fill it with substrate, turn it over, or web over it.

Gatorade caps rock! But my stupid Haplopelma sp. keeps filling it up with dirt, webbing it up, and then toppling it over. Hmmm maybe she's trying to tell me something. :p The wench!

For arboreals I cut the top half of a tylenol plastic bottle off and bolt the bottom half near the top of the one gallon plastic wal-mart jar which my T calls home. I use this as a holder for plastic nyquil cups, which I fill with water. My A. versicolor drinks from this periodically, and it helps keep humidity high. I slightly overflow it once per week.

For my terrestrials I use a small plastic reptile dish that I bury half into the substrate. In the middle of the dish I keep fossil vertebrate that I stand upright to allow crickets a place to climb out of the water on that rare occasion when they live long enough to find H2O.

We use 38 cent plastic flower pot holders from Wally World. They come in all sizes. Terra-cotta will cost you a little more. It's a personal thing. We keep plenty on hand. Take one out, chunk it in the dishwasher and put a new one in its place. :D

El Pollo Loco and Baja Fresh RULES!!!! I always help myself to a couple of extra salsa cups when I'm there.
