What can I feed other than crickets?

I have a 4" P. scrofa who has eaten nothing but crickets. She won't go for meal worms because they burrow and are slow. I want her to have a variety of foods.

I've had good luck with b. dubias roaches, assuming you can get past the 'ew roaches' mental block :)

My Aphonopelma sp. Guatemala just snatched a roach from the tongs I presented it to her with...It's so satisfying listening to the crunch when they eat ^^

Blaptica dubia all the way ^^

Keep in mind that B.dubia burrow, so tong feeding is the best way to go when feeding arboreals. As I mentioned in other threads, I don't recommend doing this with pokies or OBT's but you should be able to get away with it with most terrestrial species...

As long as you're constantly poking at the roach, B. dubia can definitely high-tail it around the enclosure. It's only when you leave them alone that they'll start to slow down and burrow.

Crush their heads before you toss them in, the won't burrow but will twitch for a long time.

Faster roach species: B. lateralis and B. fusca/fusca hybrids (these will also burrow but are much more flighty and run around more.)

Why exactly do you want to feed her something besides crickets? Just for the sake of variety? If you're worried about her health then I'll just say that as long as you're gut-loading the crickets with fruits, vegetables and maybe some tropical fish food then your spider will be more than happy and healthy on an all cricket diet.

If you do insist on switching up her diet, Roaches would be your best bet (as everyone else has said). Honestly, she's probably not going for the worms because they're large and incredibly filling. They're not a good regular food choice.

I kinda just get my crickets from a lps about 2 at a time, so I have no idea wjat they feed them. I think I may try roaches, but for some reason my parents think they will invade our apartment complex.

Ha, oh parents.

What I do with crickets is get about fifteen or so and keep them in a little plastic bin. I just toss in some fish food, sliced apple, a banana or whatever else and let them be. I just feed my T's as needed from that. Crickets will eat basically anything, but knowing LPS's they're probably using "official" cricket food or fish food.

If you wish to switch to Roaches then have at it.

Really? I didn't know this. So exactly what species would be considered naturalized and are also sold as feeders?
